This DeWalt 12 volt brushless screwdriver stands out as a compact option for light fastening, not as an impact driver. The 12 volt branding refers to the battery line, and the 12 volt tools do not take 20 volt batteries, which matters if you already own DeWalt 20 volt gear. Pricing is inconsistent, with the product page, cart, pickup, and shipping sometimes showing different totals. It also appears alongside other discounted 12 volt DeWalt tools, suggesting the line may be getting cleared out.
Homeowners building a small 12V tool setup, because the 12V battery line is separate and the charger can handle both 12V and 20V packs.
The 12V versus 20V EXTREME and MAX branding can be interpreted as battery-line differences, which may help shoppers compare DeWalt variants more confidently.
Yes. The listing can show $99 for pickup or in-cart pricing, while shipping can show $79 with free shipping on the product page; availability also varies by location.
Most DeWalt chargers can charge both 12V and 20V batteries. That makes the 12V platform easier to live with if you already own other DeWalt packs, even though the batteries themselves are not interchangeable.
The 12V EXTREME label refers to the battery line, not a separate tool class. For DeWalt drills and impacts, a rough hierarchy is brushed 20V MAX at the bottom, then brushless, then Atomic, then XR at the top; 12V brushless sits below XR and Atomic.
It is a screwdriver, not an impact driver. That matters because it is meant for driving screws and light fastening rather than the higher-torque impact use case.
No, 20V batteries do not fit the 12V model. If you already own a 20V battery ecosystem, this kit may not be worth adding because it requires 12V batteries instead.
i just realized you can't use a 20v battery on the 12v model (it's all clicking now!)...which means I should pass as I have a bunch of the 20v batteries from my existing setup
Most of the chargers can charge both 12v and 20v batteries at least. But I totally understand not wanting another battery type!
They do not have a 20v cordless screwdriver, to my knowledge. At least, not yet.
Weird as the 12v Drill and the 12v impact are also $79 and free delivery but the 12v screwdriver is showing $99 free shipping. Crazy Lowe's! I thinking Dewalt is clearing out their 12v lineup entirely.
I believe you are correct -- I heard the 12V lineup is getting phased out. Don't quote me, just what I heard

Yeah I believe it. I also think most 12v cordless tools from other companies are getting phased out also. Lowe's dropped the 12v Skil lineup end of 2025 and had great deals Black Friday so I picked up a few bare tools. I think with the new subcompact that manufacturers are offering in the 18v lineup the tools are similar in weight and size to the 12v so why not purchase the higher voltage which also offers more power?
any thoughts on this vs the 20v dewalt quiet hydraulic impact? I have heard the m12 fuel surge provides enough control to get your screws flush with the woods surface. Any thoughts of if the quiet hydraulic is the same or is it worth it to have this screwdriver for the clutch?
Shows out of stock for me yesterday. Was in-stock for a span of 2hrs and back to out of stock.
