Buy now if it fits your need, in all these months we have never seen a 64GB RAM-ed laptop with a somewhat reputable processor for sub-$500 and neither will be in the months to come. Also, no idea about quantity of Woot! stock, this very well could be the last few remaining.

Unless you have a use case that requires that much RAM, this is not a very good deal, especially considering the scratch and dent condition and the questionable condition of the battery. And if you do have such a use case, you will probably find the rest of the specs to be insufficient. For a little bit more money, you can buy something a lot less dated with a much better display. Remember - unused RAM is wasted RAM.

It;s a weird middle ground. If you've been looking for mini pc's I'd probably get this instead because the ram cost alone, but you also get a screen and battery to go along with it, and even some dedicated graphics, even though it's a workcenter gpu. The thunderbolt 4 is also a really nice option to have.

True, it might be competitive compared to a similarly specced mini-PC. But another angle to consider is that if you were to remove the RAM, the rest of the machine would not be worth more than perhaps $150. So really you're paying $350 for a used 64 gb SODIMM DDR4 kit, which is a fair deal at best, even in this environment.

The ZBook is one of HP's top of the lineup business laptop series. The build quality alone is worth half the mentioned price. The i7-11850H while being around 5 years old is still very capable and powerful, just not as battery and thermally efficient as the newer chips.
In short, you mean, to say removing the RAM, leaving an 8-core powerful processor, a dGPU (despite being old), sturdy build quality, good port selection, win 11 Pro, backlit keyboard, good speaker, is worth $150? Anyone with laptop and parts knowledge would agree how non-sensical that sounds.

I see multiple Sold listings on Ebay at around $250-300 for this exact model but with 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD (a useful size unlike the 256 GB that this unit comes with). You will find even lower prices if you expand the search to other brands and models such as Dell Precision. So yeah, my earlier estimate of $150 without the RAM still stands, considering the useless 256 GB SSD and the scratch and dent condition.

I'm not trying to crap on your post or anything, but since most people would consider this machine mostly for the RAM, this calculation is worth pointing out.

I still use a 9th gen dell precision with 32gb + t1000. The t gpus are comparable to a 1650 (1200 probably more like ti) and have decent game support. I mostly use mine for emulators.

The real value here would be flipping the ram if you have sodimms lying around, or swapping the 64gb into a more powerful micro pc like the Dell 7010 or tiny lenovos, if you had or got one with 16gb (easiest to find/cheapest spec). The popular 13500t+ models are high core beasts, and take ddr4 sodimms.

Random scenario I know, but I'm in the market for the latter and any easy way to get 64gb of sodimms (plus a decent laptop!) Is worth considering. And I also have tons of 8x2 sodimm sets lying around

I have one of these for my work laptop. The thing is an absolute beast, but it's also a tank to lug around - the heaviest laptop I've ever had! Keep that in mind if you travel a lot.
