Most of these Amazon no name units are BSP thread instead of NPT. This is why they leak. Almost all Americans will have a 1/2" NPT shower arm. You can get an adapter from 1/2" NPT female to G1/2" for around $10.

Save yourself the hassle of these no name brands and buy the Kohler Hydrorail if your Costco has it.

I never had issues with Chinese no brand stuff but I made sure that they're made of metal. Folks here say this is plastic so that makes sense that it's junk. I stopped buying name brand stuff because the no name stuff can be equally as good and at a fraction of the price. But I buy responsibly and vet the product first.

One reviewer added Teflon tape to the handle ball joint and said it fixed the leaking issue. Going to give this head a shot for my apartment who's shower heads are old and gross.
"removed the little screw that holds the plastic around the 'ball' jointed connection and then unscrewed the connection bearing the threads of that joint. I applied Teflon tape and put everything back together, tightened the small screw back in place. I put together the rest of the pieces (with Teflon tape where needed). I installed the whole assembly to the shower arm and VOILA -- works beautifully"

I've been wanting to pull the trigger on that Kohler from Costco. How's it working out for you? Does it have any metal parts?

I have it (though not ShaunoftheDawn). The L housing the main shower head connects to, the brackets to connect to the wall, and the connectors from the bracket to the main body all appear metal. The rest is plastic from what I can tell.

The Hydrorail at Costco is discontinued. Last price is around $90-$100.
