He games with it but primarily for his architecture classes. Rhino, AutoCAD, Revit, plus a variety of 3d renderers.
He graduated May 9th! Woot!

The PNY RTX 5070 Ti is a strong 4K and high refresh rate gaming card that also handles demanding work like Rhino, AutoCAD, Revit, and 3D rendering well. Performance is repeatedly described as close to an RTX 4080, with solid benchmark results and smooth long term use. The main catch is pricing and stock, since the $699 clearance has been highly store specific and often requires in store lookup, ordering, or a price adjustment. Some locations rang up $799, $899, or even $999, so the deal depends heavily on the store.
The card can be ordered for pickup or delivery at the clearance price even when the shelf is empty.
The $699 in-store price can be honored after pickup when the shelf tag shows clearance.
The RTX 5070 Ti can deliver strong 3DMark performance with mild overclocking and undervolting.
The card can support demanding architecture workflows like Rhino, AutoCAD, and Revit while gaming.
Store pricing can vary widely, with some locations ringing up $899 or $999 instead of $699.
The clearance price can be unavailable at checkout, forcing cancellations or refunds before rebuying.
The included 007 First Light game code can be missing on the receipt and may require customer service follow-up.
The card's fan noise can be noticeable and may include bearing-like noise for some units.

It was just sitting in the case with a marked down sticker on it. $599.99.
I don't know what I can tell everyone. I rarely get lucky on any kind of deal but I guess this time I hit a minor jackpot.
I am sure it was just an in store deal. A serious YMMV.
Nope, really! It was just sitting there. $599.99. I was in Walmart for something else and I usually drop by the electronics section when I am getting ready to build.

It just means they are going to streamline the product line.
Or is it bc if they streamline the 5080, the 5070 ti gets discontinued and hence the clearance?
My store had the 5070 ti @ $899.99
But they had the 5060 ti @ $419.99. Picked that one up for a friend as he's slowly getting the parts to upgrade. Was also able to get him the MC 9850X3D bundle that had the glitched pricing from a month ago or so.

The memory in the 5070 Ti sits at a lower stock clock speed.
If anything, they'd have to use it to double their 5060 Ti 8GB production for more sub-$1000 prebuilts.

Nvidia raised the price on the 5090 by $300 and in S. Korea many models are over $5k.

No comment on unsubstantiated claims about nvidia canceling cards or diverting resources to higher profit cards. My guess is the usual best buy random price things we have seen in the past. I would not assume there is any logic tthere. My local store had no stock and was $899. Other stores showed stock as soon as this was posted and were presumably 699 in store. Probably just some weird sales algorithm. I already own this card or else I would have driven to every store until I found one.

Plenty of third party manufacturers release OC editions of most cards, which is just a product of good binning.
If this were a luck of the draw situation, then to achieve what the previous comment was suggesting would mean having to apply factory overclocks to the 5080.
If I bought a $1000 card late in production and it had no headroom compared to what it had on release, I'd assume it was defective.
