Dunno, I bought an ice cream maker on sale for a lot cheaper than this a few years ago. I ended up giving it away, because of two things - either you don't use it as much as you think you will, or you do and fail every dieting attempt.

If you are really interested in doing this, I'd look into no churn ice cream that doesn't require a machine to buy first, to see if you like doing it, also you can get machines a lot cheaper than this.

If you REALLY like making ice cream, I guess this could be fun. Realistically though, it is not cheap to make your own ice cream.

I have an ice cream maker and although I use mine semi-regularly I would have to agree with you and SplendidPocket588. The only reason why I keep mine is to make specialty ice creams that you can't easily find or buy. Like others said it would be more cost efficient to buy premade ice cream. The heavy whipping cream is not cheap, often costing as much as a 1/2 gallon of ice cream before other ingredients are added

This. Retail ice cream manufacturers have started adding coconut oil to increase "creaminess" (greasiness) in all the non-vanilla flavors because it's cheaper than cream. They also whip the ice cream so that the containers have more air. Even with higher prices on heavy cream, premium ice cream is still cheaper when homemade.
