meh, if you only need 30lbs max weight, any number of vests on Amazon will do the job for a lot less money. Example (regularly $72, often goes on sale for half of that): https://a.co/d/01HYXldo

No doubt much cheaper options. I was worried about wear and tear on cheaper gear. Hence my buying the Gucci (on sale) lol... but otherwise I'd never pay full price for dead weight.

Well, if using such light weight (10-20lbs as this "Basic Rucker" comes with in this deal), those cheaper options would likely be more durable because the weight is evenly distributed both on the back AND the front of the body. My friend uses that Zeleus one since she's petite and 20# is plenty for her, and it's held up well after almost a year. (I personally need 50-75# so I just bought 50# and 25# plates from Yes4All (Amazon knock-off brand) and put them inside a 5.11 3-Day Rush backpack which costs less than the equivalent Go Ruck setup plus is infinitely more versatile when not rucking.)

GoRuck is the top of the list when it comes to weighted carries. They are American made, former special forces owned. I've only a couple bags, even in Arizona 110+ heat or monsoon rains, or through airports, good as new.

Be careful of the "you get what you pay for" sales pitch/delusion. Above a typically low baseline pricepoint, it's a well known and perennial favorite of marketing departments in every industry because it's the prime enabler of what are called "Veblen Goods" --- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veblen_good

Go Ruck's outrageously inflated pricing (a laughable $3-4/lb for their actual plates) is a result of both this marketing strategy and the virtual monopoly it has in the marketplace, due to rucking still being not a mainstream activity that would invite a ton of competitors.

The usual recommendation for rucking is to carry the weight on your back to support posture and balance while walking, whereas weighted vests for calisthenics etc should be balanced front & back to support a variety of movements. But for lighter weights like 10-20 lbs, you're probably right about durability and balance not being affected as much.

Yeah if I were rucking really insane amounts of weight, I'd splurge on one of these: https://kensui.com/products/kensui-ez-vest
