I'm still trying to understand wtf this thing is. Yeah, it's a tent, but sleeping chambers? Isn't that called "a tent"?

DOD is a Japanese outdoor company. Most of their stuff is designed on Japan, but made in Vietnam or some other southeast Asian company. Their camping style is much different than US style, as they tend to lean towards comfortable car camping. Tents like this are designed to be multi purpose with room to sleep and covered areas to hang out in. For some of their tents with an open bottom, u can buy a floor attachment.

it has a floor for the sleep compartment. This also depends on the terrain and style of camping that folks are looking to do...
Many camp sites in Asia have deck, platform, flat gravel, etc that works well with this type of tent. Here in the US, I can see this as something pretty versatile but scenario dependent. Also, I don't have to bring one of those collapsible canopies to cover from the sun.

If you're paying $449, what would you charge them? $1000? Do people carry cash when they're out there? I don't.

People might not spend cash at the event but it does not mean they don't have it...
Then there's electronic payments, trading.
I'd take jewelry, Rolex, Patek Phillips... Mac laptops.
