Used to be a big fan of XPS 13 series, starting from the first gen. Now Dell lost its way, gave up on XPS, then brought it back. Not the same quality.
idk if this has it but the last XPS the lack of function bar and instead they gave the smooth touch "buttons" or whatever it was. Terrible design, I still hate my xps 13 1260p.
Because one is a full-fledged gaming laptop and this one is a top-of-the-line business-grade laptop focusing on portability, advanced productivity, coding, data entry, content creation, etc. This is a 14" laptop and the one you have linked is 16" behemoth, they're not comparable at all. Someone looking for portability would not even consider the Asus Rog.

Someone looking for portability wouldn't consider another laptop?
Most of what you said could be done with the same amount of effectiveness on the gaming laptop. The processor and GPU are also both better on the gaming laptop, which will matter a lot on tasks involving rendering. The biggest trade-off here is the RAM, which will matter for some seriously heavy duty 3d rendering projects. But that still shouldn't come at the cost of the GPU. If you're getting into that kind of stuff you're probably better having it handled by a dedicated desktop computer attached to a backup power supply anyway. For most people, and for most workloads, the gaming laptop is still better here. A 2 inch difference isn't enough to write off as not being portable. Lower your refresh rate, save some battery, you're good to go, and have a generally better PC for most situations. Plus more screen space is great for a lot of productivity focused tasks that would want window tiling.
if you are having it for general office work on the go, both of these are overkill.
between the 2, the one listed here is an absolute ripoff.even on sale. Actually without even comparing the 2 this one's a ripoff.

The first line of your comment renders the rest of the comment baseless.
There's a reason why the laptops are categorized. Categorized according to sizes, use-case scenario, and more. I never said someone looking for portability wouldn't consider another laptop; Only that they won't consider a bulky gaming laptop such as the Asus ROG which is bigger and heavier. Businessmen or corporate people who travel a lot would not even eye a laptop such as the ROG, let alone buy one. They prefer lineups such as ThinkPads, XPS, Prestige, EliteBooks and ZBooks; and not Legions, ROGs or Zephyrus, Omens or Victus. There's absolutely no comparison between a 14" business laptop to a desktop replacing 16"-18" gaming laptop, so there's no use of doing so or trying to justify it. They're both good devices that serve different purposes. Period.
Agreed with your point. Totally a ripoff.
Though there probably will be 5-10% of the user care about 1lb weight difference. I personally won't.

And I thought they changed the name to "Dell Premium 14" for the Intel Ultra 200s generation. Anyway idk who approved that change, good to see XPS back.
