While there are reasons NOT to like the monitor, the pixel density is exactly what Mac users want/need. I believe this is the same as the 32" Studio Display. It's 5K @ 27" and 6K at 32" to get native scaling on a Mac.
I'd have to imagine that the target market for a $1300+ 6K monitor is the same group of people who would have a substantial video card to drive it...
Not at all. I'm on a 5Kx2K right now running on Intel laptop graphics, working in IT. I'd upgrade to the Dell 52" 6K tomorrow if it fit on my desk. 30hz is enough for me.

"Intel laptop graphics" can be a whole bunch of things from really crappy, to half-way decent in the latest laptops, but your monitor vs a true 6K monitor are quite different with the 6K needing almost 4x the bandwidth at 60hz. 120Hz would be 8x the bandwidth. Not going to get that from Intel iGPU. Not sure what you do in IT, maybe looking at static images? I can't imagine running at 30hz on purpose.

I'm posting this from a 32" 4K display and the pixel pitch is plenty fine, similar to a 1080P 15.4" laptop screen.

Design architecture. Flow diagrams and lines of code don't get updated any faster at 120hz than they do 30. I just need the real estate.
This is not meant to be a gaming monitor. It's specifically for creative professionals - graphic designers, photographers, editors, artists, etc. Refresh rate above 60hz not especially meaningful for these users. 99% of monitors are 60hz, including almost all professional office monitors used by people who get paid more than you. 60hz is also fine for lots of gaming.
If you're young and visually acute enough that you demand a 120hz display, fine whatever. It must be tough living with every common 60hz AC powered light giving you constant migraines from its 120hz flickering.

maybe i'm just ignorant but what is the use case of this level of pixel density if optimal resolution of a 32 inch monitor at typical office desk viewing distance is 4K?
As a recent switcher, I'm learning that Macs on external monitors do not scale cleanly like Windows. Anything lower than their native 220ppi you will notice, even as a casual user.
