I have a 9.26" Volam w/o Netflix. It's great value but there are a couple of issues with it. It has Android Auto connection issues if your phone has Android v16+. There is a fix but it's not easy to find. Also, the backup camera image is stretched full screen and has only 90 degrees of coverage. This means you can't rely on it showing you things either side of your car. All that said, you get a lot for your money.

Many negative comments and reviews stating the YouTube and Netflix apps don't actually work. YMMV I guess if you may be on iOS v android.

Can this be used outside of a car? Van it be connected to a PC as a touchscreen, like a Xeneon Edge?

Note that the 9.26" version has front and rear dashcam functionality, and it's cheaper at only $65 rn. I'd take that over Netflix any day.

How does this connect to the cars stereo, just over an aux/headphone-style cable?

I don't think that would be possible since the car mic is tied to your car's radio directly. It can't be shared with other devices.

If you pair your phone directly to the car for phone calls, it would work but if you use Carplay or Android auto, it probably reverts back to the screen instead.
It 100% is possible with Android Auto. I have several units that will disconnect the BT channel so your phone connects to the car for audio including microphone. To me these kind of screens are worthless without that feature, who wants to play their music (or even directions!) through a 3W tinny speaker when most cars have at least a 40W amp and several 5"+ speakers.

It does use the speakers from your cars system, but it doesn't use the cars microphone.
Which one do you have that connects the mic as well ?

edit;
actually it uses the aux cable to your cars aux in for the audio out. I don't think it can do the bluetooth since that's used for connecting to your phone which then switches to wifi for android auto and apple carplay.

edit2:
Well... Looks like I had mine misconfigured. It was set to put audio out to the aux cable but there's an option to use bluetooth. I swithced it over and sure enough it works as it should.
The only sucky thing is that my truck defaults back to aux line in when I start. I have to switch it over to use bluetooth. stupid thing but ill live with it.

I've been using a similar model, but different brand for about 3 years. They are great for older cars/trucks. I added a nice tablet anti-glare matte screen cover to help with direct sunlight & it made a world of difference.

Android 16 was released mid 2025 and the firmware on my Volam is 2024. It suffered frequent disconnects and I had lost hope on it ever being fixed because there are no firmware updates available for these units. However I found some info on this page [amazon.com] which fortunately also worked for my unit..
