Recently picked up the SIRUI Aurora 85mm F1.4 for $350 at Woot.

Trying to talk myself out of buying this one too. Any help?

The Zeiss Batis is a fantastic lens. How is the Sirui? If it's good, I don't see the need to get the Zeiss, which is 2/3 stop wider.

The Sirui is great, used it almost exclusively for my last shoot, and think it'll be my main and I'm really enjoying the 85mm length. Most of my lenses are budget lens, and would love to see what a nicer, more upscale lens offers, but I agree that the extra 2/3 stop is great.

These went like really cheap during prime day last year. $600 or something. If not in a rush then can wait for an opportunistic sale

Dang at that price, I definitely couldn't resist giving it a try. Thanks for the info, will keep an eye out in the future!

This was an amazing lens when it was released in 2015 but it was amazing mostly because there just wasn't any 5 star lenses for the Sony E-Mount. I rented it once, loved it, but I wouldn't buy it now, I think there are just better options.
PS: Sony commissioned this lens is what inspired them to create the Sony G Master line

What Travis said.

They're still good lenses but the optics and AF motors are dated at this point and price. You'd really have to want the Zeiss look to get these over similarly priced or cheaper newer lenses. They have the Zeiss "3D Pop" look but also with the chromatic aberration and softness issues wide open; more modern lenses don't tend to have that due to the usage of newer low dispersion glass elements, at the expense of that particular kind of rendering. These also use older aspherical elements which weren't molded as well or polished like modern ones, so they had more prominent onion ringing.

Sony's own 85mm f/1.8 is a bit dated at this point too with some of the similar issues but goes for less than half of this and with better AF, Viltrox 85mm f/2.0 EVO is much sharper without the CA issues and 1/4 of the price, the Sigma 85mm f/1.4 is considerably cheaper, the original Sony GM 85mm f/1.4 which was regarded as having some of the best lens rendering/bokeh is also around this price used, etc.
