I'm trying to decide between something like this and the "self cleaning" push down models. I'm just concerned that this won't have the weight necessary to do any good without a lot of force being applied. Has anyone used one of these that could speak to its efficacy vs other options? TIA

Amazon reviews reports problems with broken tines.

Yes, you do have to apply some downward force depending on soil. In my case, we have heavy clay. That usually means I have to wet down the area and wait a bit when it's too dry to cultivate. On the other hand, if the soil is too wet and muddy, the tines get caked with clay, and won't rotate. Easy enough to hose down and clean, but not very convenient and easy to use.

Where these shine are small bare spots in your lawn. It's also handy at turning over mulch beds. It's small enough to get in tight areas and around plants easily.

I have the Corona version and I think it has a better design than this Fiskars one. The Corona version is built like a tank and has a solid, one-piece handle. It is a major workout using these and best limited to small areas. The Corona works better upside down; in the standard position it just rolls over the top of the soil, but when inverted it digs in and turns the soil as one would expect.
