This Milwaukee fold-up hand truck is best understood as a compact, light-duty mover for occasional boxes, laundry, and odd-shaped items, with the big appeal being how small it folds for storage. The light weight and small footprint make it handy to keep in a corner, and it has handled loads up to 200 pounds in limited use. The main drawback is durability and stability, with reports of flimsy construction, tiny base, wobble, jamming wheels, and folding parts that can fail or collapse inward. It feels more like a convenience tool than a heavy-duty dolly.

  • Apartment movers carrying boxes, laundry, or odd-shaped items, because it folds small for storage and handles occasional light loads well.

  • People who need a compact hand truck for occasional errands, because it stores in a corner and works fine for limited use.

  • Shoppers moving moderate loads under 200 pounds, because it has handled sandbags and similar light-duty hauling without major issues.

  • Anyone who needs a rugged daily-use hand truck, because the folding mechanism can fail, jam, or break quickly.

  • People moving heavy or awkward loads, because the base is tiny and the truck can be hard to balance even with normal boxes.

  • Shoppers who need wheels that stay locked out, because the wheels can collapse inward randomly and make the truck unusable.

  • Buyers expecting smooth rolling and stable tracking, because the wheels can be canted and cause awful wobble or jamming.

I had this one, purchased at $20 from home depot before. The folding mechanism eventually failed over time. I think it is not worth $38. The one from harbor freight is better value. But if you can wait, Costco's 6 wheel version is better build at cheaper price.

The little folding Harbor Freight hand truck looks flimsier than this one, but it is a couple bucks cheaper. https://www.harborfreight.com/150...58298.html

Thanks. I think I am going to shop for a higher load capacity and bite the bullet once.

Yeah its made by Milwaukee hand trucks, which is the original name brand for hand trucks.
what does that even mean? Hand trucks have been around in some form or other for 100s of years. Wooden carts, often closer to wheelbarrows in the 1600s. More advanced models like sack carts, 'pry lever bar', Johnson Bar, or several other names was being not much more than a bar with two wheels and a lip to catch under the edge or items to be moved give us the familiar function to the modern hand trucks back in the late 1800s (and still in use today).
The Gleason company that makes Milwaukee hand trucks has only existed since 1946. So again, WTF does that mean claiming they are the "original name brand for hand trucks", something that doesn't seems to be physically possible as the company has only existed for 80 years.
BTW, the first ALUMINUM hand truck is credited to Magliner and was made in 1947 (and steel and wood models existed some time before that.)
