Not that I can lift anywhere near that anymore, but I don't think I'd put 300+ lb on that bench (says it has 500 lb capacity, including the lifter).

Biggest problem with these narrow benches is your grip for bench press. You either have to go narrow or wide because the supports look to be RIGHT where I'd put my hands or close to it. Plus, when you're loading the bar, especially if you have a 6 ft bar (definitely wouldn't use a 7 ft), the bar is going to be unbalanced probably requiring you to support it until you can get weight on the other side.

  1. That is a leg extension not a leg press.
  2. The rack position is right where you should be gripping the bar. Not sure why they chose that width.
  3. You are going max out on the weight capacity fairly quickly if you're serious about lifting.

Adult Male Bench Press Standards (1RM)
  • Untrained/Beginner: ~103 lb to 135 lb
  • Average/Intermediate: ~175 lb to 217 lb
  • Advanced: ~290 lb [1, 2, 3]
Still leaves 210LBS for the lifter's weight so maxing it out is unlikely unless your a top tier lifter! Sure if your a competitive lifter you will be able to max it out but even then you can do an extra set if this is all you can afford. WE are talking a $54 setup here most "serious lifters" spend more than that on supplement's Stick Out Tongue

There are plenty of people who are 210lbs or more. Benching slightly over your body weight is not that difficult to achieve and you definitely don't need to be a competitive lifter. Even just bodyweight bench would take this to 420. That's too close for comfort on a cheap setup like this.
Those standards are crazy low compared to what a lifter can do in a couple months in the gym. I bench 2x bodyweight now after 3 years of training, but it only took me about the first 3 months to hit 185. I did not consider myself to be an average or intermediate lifter when I benched 185, I was a beginner in every sense of the word.
Yes it's a $54 setup so you can't expect much, but the point is that you should really spend that $54 on supplements instead like you said. Some things are not worth cheaping out on. Just get a used setup.

You are also just assuming that at 500lb this thing folds up like a taco which I doubt! Also People can do their own math and there are plenty of young men, old men, smaller men that aren't gym bro's, women that all can be happy with this bench yet you want to focus on the 10% of the population that this bench wont fit just to be contrary! If someone is benching 400LBS and they weigh 300 LBS they can probably figure out to not buy a bench that has a 500LB max what ya think. You are obviously not going to buy one of these benches so why are you trying to be a Karen and worry about what someone else might buy?

Calm down. People can make their own decisions but may not always think about long term when making purchases. That's the point of a comments section, so that people can read it and be aware of the limitations on this thing. There are definitely people who buy without realizing how quickly one can max out on this. I never said you can't buy it, and I'm clearly not talking about 100lb women when I say you can max out on this.

Got it your just a white knight here to save people that can't basic math from making a purchasing mistake that than can easily be returned to Walmart for free anytime in the next 3 months. I am just saying for every one in a thousand gym bro that is gonna max this out the chances of one of them having zero clue to check the max weight of a piece of equipment is pretty slim and for every one of those guys there are about 1 million people that just have a 50LB adjustable dumbbell set and want a bench to add more variety to their workout. Then you have another million teenagers that want to start working out and a million more 80 year old men that just want to keep in shape so they can stay out of a walker and a million men that don't bench 300 LBS and for all those millions this bench is perfectly fine! But good looking out for your 1%. Who The FK needs to think long term for a $54 purchase? Now if you were arguing this bench sucks because the rack is too skinny then that would be a fair point. Your argument based on the weight limit though is kinda weaksauce IMO Those guys can get one of these https://slickdeals.net/f/19519230-yoleo-adjustable-weight-bench-for-home-gym-38-25-free-s-h?src=category_page which is good for ASTM-Certified 827LBS for $39

Why are you so upset that I'm warning some people that could potentially max out on this with some training. You don't fit that category, move on. Doesn't matter what percent of the population could max this out. Don't get so upset about a comment that wasn't talking to you.
Yes, there are old people, smaller people, teens, etc. I clearly was not talking about them, those people can just ignore my comment and purchase if they want to. Just relax dude, your insecurities are showing so hard.
Who needs to think about long term for a $54 purchase? Maybe people who don't want to have to deal with lugging this back to the store or trying to sell it on facebook marketplace in a couple months. It's not the $54, it's the bulky thing sitting in their basement that can be avoided.

Thank goodness for you to save them from their gym transgressions! I'm no so upset I just think reminding people about a statistic that is clearly shown in the sales page is kind of stupid! A feature like the bar width that may not stand out sure or if the pad sucks and is uncomfortable sure but weight limit is basic and something literally everyone knows to look out for and if you miss it basically your an idiot. This is like going into the shoe thread and saying ok people make sure you don't buy size 10 shoes if you wear size 12 shoes.......... That and you are arguing for not exactly unicorns but pretty close I would say to unicorns are people that have some experience lifting and can lift over 300 LBS while also weighing over 200 LBS ( not that outlandish agreed) but real thing that throws this number into unicorn territory is the fact that these guys have been weight lifting enough to get to 300LBS but are too stupid or clueless to know about equipment weight limits that is who your arguing for! That's my point. This bench sucks for plenty of reasons the weight limit just isn't really one of them! Everything on the planet has a weight limit and a size, you learn that at 2 years old when you can't ride this ride because you are too small or you don't get pick for the basketball team cause you are too short! I'm not that upset and I could just turn it around back to you why you so upset because you keep pressing your take on it!
