NOTE: the below is just a sample deal, it works with pretty much anything you can buy over the Amex offer threshold at ABT.com. The value here is in the ability to both price match and use the offer.

Another note: please do not ask ABT customer service representatives about the American Express offer; according to the experience of some people in this thread, they don't appear to be very well trained on it and don't know how it works.

Further note: most people in this thread have reported not receiving emails that the offer has been triggered, but it posts anyways.

Step 1: Check your Amex cards for offers. Abt.com currently has $125 cash back offer for a $900+ purchase.

Note: Not every account will have this, hence YMMV! Looks like the offer might also be different for different cardholders, including a $100 off $1,000. Mine expires on 7/31/2026, so if you want to hold out for a potentially even greater price difference, there's that option, as well.

Step 2: Abt.com will price match to Amazon via chat (they will send a secure payment link). Amazon still has it for $899. You do still pay tax on $899. For me (MN) the final price after the cash back posts will be $850.64.

Clarification: I paid $975.64, which will trigger the credit. The $850.64 price will be reflected once the offer posts.

Filler items: if you don't have sales tax, search for "corn bread" or "salsa" ($8-ish). There are also some travel accessories, like luggage locks, for $20.

Step 3: Well, there's not one, really. Abt is a certified Apple reseller, so there are no warranty issues here. Can still add AppleCare and all that.

Applies to other models, as well.

The offer was "$125 cash back offer for a $900+ purchase". But OP spent only $850.64. So, offer should not apply unless a filler of ~ 50$ is added. Am I missing something?
899-125 + tax on $899 = ~$850.

Math is hard.

Unless you live in a state with no sales tax the tax added to the transaction will take you over the threshold for the offer.

No need for a filler, unless you have the $100 off $1,000 offer.

EDIT: Ah, I see you have no sales tax. Maybe look for something in the travel accessories category? They seem to have some ~$20 items there. Luggage locks, etc. There are also some food items under $10.

Could always get AppleCare, I suppose (EDIT: if you have the $100 off offer, which is not the case here).

I've got the M3 version of this laptop... price seems good, wondering what I can get for my M3?

Are there any obvious reasons to upgrade from M3 to M5?

Do you have to purchase the macbook, or can it be other items totaling $900+?

It means exactly what it says. Spend $900 on Abt.com by 7/31 and you'll get the $125 credit.
