Mine works perfect with my asus board. Only issue I had is that it would drain the controller if I left it plugged in while the PC turned off so I had to enable USB S4/S5 in the bios

They work great on Samsung TVs too. Native touchpad mouse support, also is supported by the Xbox app. Irony, right? But cheers to Samsung, Microsoft and Sony anyhow.
Seems only Xbox has a real versatile cloud service. If there's a PS+ equivalent, it's unfortunately not nearly as accessible.
About battery life... regardless of platform, you can power off the controller by holding the PS button for 10 seconds. Takes longer than feels intuitive, but it's there.

playstation should make a hall effect controller, but probably never will because they want you to keep replacing your controller whenever you get stick drift. i like the dualsense controllers, but after retiring two of them due to unfixable stick drift, its pretty clear they intend for them to be replaced regularly, which sucks.

You could always learn to solder. I still agree that they could do better with their manufacturing (and just include hall effect), but you can DIY a "Diet Dualsense Edge" for around $40-50 and retain the same battery life.
Allegedly the battery life on the Edge is abysmal. No way I'm paying $200 just for the official option

I've had the same issue, went through 2 or 3 at this point... considering buying the 5.99 warranty to just swap out if it stick drifts again.

maybe, but at that point i'd rather just get a third party controller with hall effect. i tried the easysmx x20 which was great until one of the triggers got squishy, it doesnt fully press back up when you press it down. opened it up and couldnt find an easy fix (not that i know much about fixing controllers). to be expected though, as it was only like 30 bucks

They work great, they are fully compatible. You can use them wired or wireless and Sony has a PC app you can install that will allow you to update firmware and calibrate.
