Sony's DualSense wireless controller is the standard PS5 pad, and the comments focus on its price and long term stick wear. The recurring discount makes it easy to pick up extras, and the same price appears at ShopMyExchange with possible tax savings. Shiny finishes can feel slippery when hands sweat. Stick drift is the main concern, though cleaning with contact cleaner may help if the issue is dirt rather than failing hardware, and Sony's two year replacement coverage may reduce the need for extra protection.
Common Questions (5)
Regular DualSense controllers can develop stick drift over time because they use the same stick tech across revisions. The issue is often a dirty potentiometer, so cleaning can fix it, but a more permanent fix is replacing the sticks with hall effect or TMR parts.
Stick drift can often be fixed with contact cleaner because the sticks may just be dirty from use. If the problem is actual hardware failure, cleaning will not help, and a full stick replacement may be needed.
Sony will reportedly honor replacements and fixes for 2 years from the purchase date, so extra protection may not be necessary. That makes buying at this recurring sale price a lower-risk option if you keep the receipt.
Shiny finishes like Chroma Pearl can feel slippery when hands sweat. If you tend to get sweaty hands, a matte finish may be the safer choice for grip.
ShopMyExchange has the same price and can be tax-free if you have access. That can make it the better checkout option versus paying sales tax elsewhere.
