These are really nice. However, the battery is not replaceable. Mine lasted a few years, now the battery is dead and apparently I am out of luck.

Yeah same here.one of the two probes no longer charges at all. Only 2 years old MAYBE.....shame.

My probe died a few years ago, and I replaced it with another probe, but my main base unit died as well. So the only way to replace that is with a whole new unit.

But if you buy from Costco, then if it dies you can technically return or replace there right? 😅

edit: With that said, I'm personally not a fan of most products without user-replaceable batteries/parts that are expected to fail in 1-2 years)

Garbage, just garbage...Why does a meat probe company need to access your contacts and other private information just so you can check the temperature of food....and the tips melt when using in a 350 degree bbq...garbage

Maybe I just got a bum unit but this thing was absolutely useless and couldn't stay connected at all. Meater has been much better for me

I had it for a few short months. One had issues connecting and ended up dying altogether. The other one worked fine but I bought two not one. Back to Costco it went.

I like mine. I've had no problems. I have the previous gen, and one time the smoker got too hot and they overheated but they still work. I will wait till the four pack goes on sale on Amazon though so I only need one base.

He asked why the company needed your contact list to provide a temperature reading of a random piece of meat in a random town, USA. At no point did he ask you to justify the request.

You can reject/restrict its permissions. Mine only communicates to my phone. I've had no issues with high heat. I was nervous at first with direct heat. But I've been using the probe for about a year now with no problems and no signs of melting/damage.I got this as a gift and I personally love it. User interface is pretty friendly. It's fast to get set up, maybe 20-30 secs or less. I have not tested its accuracy with another probe, but I always shoot for a rare center and it gets it every time (Ribeye, Sirloin, Top Sirloin Roast, Rib Roast). It's also done a fantastic job with chicken breast. I used to always error on the side of cooked over raw for chicken and would always get a little dry/chewy, this probe has helped me learn a lot and the chickens been the best I've cooked in years. Lastly, a quality of life feature. When running around with little kids what want you to constantly push them on the swing, the apps notifications to my phone help me stay engaged with the kids and not having to worry about monitoring the grill.
