I have this smoker. It's been great. Very well built for the price point. Prior to this one, I've had two pit boss pellet smokers and a Cuisinart pellet smoker. The Members Mark smoker has been the best that I've had.

Heat distribution is quite good. There is a heavy gauge steel flame deflector under the large drip tray that definitely improves heat distribution.

There is a smoker box that you can put wood chunks in for some additional smoke generator. Sometimes it's hit or miss on self igniting the wood chunks and I've had to use a torch to get them going.

The regular price used to be $499. I bought it a year ago from tomorrow for $429 though. Obviously things have changed since then though.

The only thing I don't really like is the lack of WiFi and Bluetooth to monitor/adjust smoker temp.

Based on everything I've seen, the Member's Mark has better heat retention via double wall/thicker gauge, a smoke box for actual wood chunks, induction side burner, and a cover. All else being relatively similar. No Bluetooth/wifi on either.

I don't have direct experience with this Traeger model but I can point out a few things that the Members Mark smoker has that the Traeger doesn't. The Members Mark smoker has a double walled design for heat retention (reduce pellet consumption, more even heat), a gasket on the lid, and the smoker box.

That style Traeger is basically their original.

Used this smoker for the 1st time this weekend. Very happy with how the food came out and how little pellets it uses. Highly recommend!

I have a Traeger pellet grill and if their smoker is anything like their grill... I'd seek other options, I'm a 19 year chef and my Traeger is one of my most disappointing appliances.
