The Switch 2 bundle is being framed as a decent way to get Nintendo's new console, especially for fans of Mario, Zelda, Pokémon, and other exclusives. The strongest value comes from stacking gift card promos, cashback, or trade ins, which can pull the effective price down into the low 400s. The main hesitation is the price itself, since the bundle feels expensive without extra discounts and the launch game selection does not excite everyone. Some are also waiting for possible OLED or later price drops, making this a better fit for buyers who want it now and will use the included games.

Common Questions (5)

  • It is most compelling if you want the console plus one of the included games, especially with Nintendo exclusives like Mario, Zelda, Pokémon, Donkey Kong, Metroid, Kirby, Animal Crossing, Fire Emblem, or Star Fox. Several comments say the value is weaker if you already have a backlog, don't want the included games, or can find a cheaper path through gift-card discounts or trade-ins.

  • Yes, commenters point to paths around $425-$458 before tax using discounted Nintendo eShop cards, Target gift-card promos, Costco card discounts, or credit-card cashback. One estimate puts a console-only purchase around $405 shipped before tax, while another says a normal-store purchase with cashback and warranty can land near $458.64.

  • Yes, the thread repeatedly references a $50 increase on September 1, putting the console at about $500 and bundles at about $550. That expectation is also used to argue Black Friday pricing could settle around $450 for the console and $500 for bundles.

  • No OLED Switch 2 version is announced in these comments. The practical concern is waiting for a possible upgraded model, but the thread only mentions a later price increase, not a new OLED hardware revision.

  • Yes, if you mainly want Nintendo exclusives and online play, the Switch 2 is framed as worthwhile; the thread specifically calls out Mario, Zelda, Pokémon, Donkey Kong, Metroid, Kirby, Animal Crossing, Fire Emblem, and Star Fox. It also notes that Switch games can be emulated on a Steam Deck, but online play is not available that way.

Anyone know if Nintendo plans to launch an OLED Version? Hate to buy it only to find an upgraded model released later this year.

The only thing they've announced is a price increase later this year (https://www.nintendo.co.jp/corpor...60508.html). The new price will be at this price point ($500) for the console with no game. I think these deals are just to try to acclimate people to the higher price, but $500 for the console with a choice of 3 games I'm not interested in isn't enough to make me bite.
At this point, I still have S1 games I haven't played, I think I'll just hold off until I can pick up a used S2 at a reasonable price while I work through my backlog of games or when S2 is at the end of its generation and there's a better games library for the system.

No one knows, but I would assume they'll follow the same release pattern and like other companies, they would release an improved OLED version in 2029. I wouldn't expect anything later this year.

Without the extra $50 off like Target deal, it's not worth it to me.

Are you talking about 5% off with red card? I can get that with 5% rewards from Best Buy credit card or choose option of 12 months no interest payments

nah, last week there was a $10 back in target gift cards for every $100 spent. If you bought this and added $1 of something random, this bundle came out around $425ish. some rumored to have luck using gift cards that if you bought them for 10% off, it basically made this bundle around $400ish after gc's and the bonus offer.

I mean with the steam deck price getting insane suddenly this console looks kind of tempting. The problem is the games right now look like trash. I'm fairly sure I wouldn't play most of what's available.

Is there deals where it's just $450? I don't want to download any of the games.

Maybe the system will be worth it one day, but it sure doesn't seem to be right now.

With all the other gaming consoles raising prices, Nintendo's pricing suddenly looks generous.
