I mean with the steam deck price getting insane suddenly this console looks kind of tempting. The problem is the games right now look like trash. I'm fairly sure I wouldn't play most of what's available.
Only buy this if you're a super fan of Nintendo exclusives like Mario, Zelda, Pokémon, Donkey Kong, Metroid, Kirby, Animal Crossing, Fire Emblem, and the Star Fox franchise. I know you can play Nintendo Switch games using an emulator on the Steam Deck, but you can't play online that way. I'm a huge fan of everything Mario, so I had to get one.

Maybe the system will be worth it one day, but it sure doesn't seem to be right now.

My workplace offers an account with this working advantage discount club thing that has gift cards at a discount (Nintendo eshop cards for 15% off). So I bought the cards and then bought the Switch through the Nintendo eshop. Came out to $425ish and then minus the cashback from my credit card. Best deal I could find for me. Couldn't get the extra discount from Target.

The Switch 2 is still the cheapest console of the generation. The gaming industry as a whole is in a pretty rough state. In the span of about a decade, it's gone from affordable for just about any budget, to a luxury entertainment with only those with plenty of disposable cash should apply, and things will get worse, we're far from the light at the end of the tunnel.

To buy or wait for a better deal? Probably best case for a while?

A better deal in the future will basically be the launch price, holiday sales and such, sadly. I'm expecting more price jumps from all the consoles, this isn't over yet. It won't be over till Ai collapses or a new RAM/NAND manufacturer(s) enters and floods the market. We're far from either. Even once it ends, don't expect prices to go back to what they were. These are corporations after all, once the price is there and people tolerate it, there's no reason to lower them. They answer to shareholders, not the consumers.

Yea. Funny how Microsoft and Sony have left their price increases in place from bozo's tariffs that rightfully got overturned. Guess they'd then argue about memory costs, soooo I guess that means their next iterations will cost $1,000 a piece. This on top of them increasing game prices from $60 (on a decent amount of titles) which is a complete joke.

to be fair, gaming isn't increasing with inflation like groceries and gas and everything else are.
pc parts sure are... but that's a different story.

Have you seen the price increase on other consoles like PlayStation 5 Pro and Steam Deck OLED? They're almost $1000.

My kids and I bought the original Switch in the summer of 2017 and rocked Mario Kart on rainy days for years. I finally upgraded to get that sweet, sweet 4k look and because I was feeling nostalgic and also wanted to finally complete Zelda, tears of the kingdom, on the new system (been slowly working on it for years). Can't say I am disappointed...

If you have a costco card you can still buy the $100 (4x$25) nintendo e-shop cards for $90, and then buy switch on the Nintendo online shop using the credit. This works out to be about 10% off. Maybe about $405 shipped before tax. This IS cheaper than this bundle by a few bucks (Pokopia is about $70 -10%... to 63, so if you bought the swtich WITH pokopia it would be $468, or about $32 cheaper than with this deal).

The best price was $400 with Mario Kart around Christmas time and the price is only getting worse.

Is Gamestop aware the penny no longer is made? When will these X.99 deals finally be phased out?
