3080 12GB beats this handily and can be found refurb in the $350 range.
You do you, but paying almost the same amount of money for a 4 year old "refurb" that only wins by brute force metrics? Seems like a fairly shortsighted choice IMO. Not to mention this uses HALF the power, has more and faster ram, two generations newer frame gen, current PCI and DP spec....a warranty? And peace of mind knowing this has not spent almost the last half decade being abused by some reckless overlocker or mining 24/7/365 . But again, you do you Wink

I went to store. This deal is only available for place like Dakota where no one is buying anything, it is impossible for any major city. I'm uninstalling this app and giving up gaming.
i'm not giving up on gaming. but i am NEVER giving NGreedia a penny for the rest of their life. I'm waiting for Nova Lake to see if their iGPU is half decent. i'll just deal with that since intel isnt releasing a dGPU this year.

It is a shame how they nerfed the Bus Width on these cards. If it was standard 256 bit like how it used to be pre 2020 instead of 128 bit I would be all over this

So he has a point. If you do an anything that requires CUDA, the rtx 3080 is going to blow the doors off this gpu hands down. The 3080 has 9000 cuda cores and the 5060 ti only has 4600. Last year I did a mid range upgrade from an rtx 3050 to a 3060 ti, I also compared it to a friends rtx 4060, again much newer architecture but way less cuda cores, same vram and yet, running various LLMs... the 3060 ti destroys the 3050 of course but it also beats the 4060. CUDA cores matter in a lot of applications.

Wrong.

The absolute most important asset for any LLM worth running today is VRAM, which is why prices are high to begin with.

A faster GPU will process more tokens per second, but that won't matter when you can't even load the model correctly because of lack of VRAM.

If you think the 3080 is still going to win with 25% of the model forced into system memory, you're sadly mistaken.

It may not have as much raw power, but that extra 4GB is absolutely going to give it an edge in letting you run larger models with some competency.

It's also why there's a huge market for extremely old V100s and P100s — lack processing power, but they have tons of VRAM.

It really depends on use case, thus my point. Moreover, it is so specific, likely isn't worth mentioning in a general forum of 99% gamers. The point is, just saying '3080 mo better' is misleading, at best, and I even alluded to it mentioning how it does win by some "brute force metrics."

FWIW, if you are really going to split hairs on certain application support why stop with mainstream cards like the 5060 or 3080? There are plenty of better cards out there if you have an absurdly specific need.....especially if you are willing to buy used 4 year old models Wink

I ordered 1 for in store pick-up last night in Harahan, LA. They didn't have it in stock but you can have the associate check their system and order one for delivery or pickup at the $419.99 clearance price. If you do it on their website, it shows $599.99 so you have to ask them to look it up to get the clearance price.

Super YMMV but my local BB had one is stock listed for the full price. I pulled up and it was actually $300. So even less than the current deal. I of course bought it. Charlotte, NC area. Can't guarantee that price at any of the ones that show stock but you might be able to grab these for less.
