This rubber mat is mainly valued as a heavy, durable surface for garages, home gyms, ramps, and outdoor areas, with the flat side often used up and the textured underside helping with drainage and grip. It is praised for being comfortable underfoot, easy to hose off, and much cheaper than similar mats at Home Depot or Lowe's. The main drawbacks are inconsistent cuts and sizing that can leave gaps, plus the 1/2 inch thickness is not ideal for dropped weights. It can also be heavy to move, may smell at first, and may leave marks on floors.

I purchased two of these on clearance (~$15) around 3 weeks back. I have mine outside on a wheelchair ramp and neither show any sign of wear. The mat is flat on one side and the other side has one inch circular embossed spacers that are spaced about an inch from each other. This helps with shock absorption and water drainage.
I got 2 of these yestwrday at my local costco for $15 each. That being said. I can see its expensive to ship these. They are heavy.

I plan to use them in my Sprinter van build. Do they smell? Thanks.
its recycled tire rubber so it will smell in a hot van. I can't smell my horse stall mats much at all but online people are really put off by them so it iseems to be a very individual thing if you are sensitive to rubber smells or not.

Do you think they would work on a concrete driveway with a slight incline? I'd like to use as an oil mat for a vehicle with a very small oil leak

I suggest looking at the reviews if you plan on buying multiple. Lots of pictures and reviews showing inconsistent sizing leaving gaps when trying to cover a larger area. I have a number of the tractor supply 4x6 mats and I've never had issues with the gaps.
This is definitely true. I pulled 6 mats one by one and lined them up at Costco. Had to dig deep to find 6 with relatively straight edges for a home gym setup.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

Just throwing in my experience: 1/2" thick. Weigh about 25 lbs each. Decent choice for gym floor usage, but only on a hard surface -- over carpet is a definite no-go (why I ended up returning them and building a wooden/stall mat platform instead.) Smelled pretty strongly; I bought six of them and could smell them from across the house for the couple of days I had them. I bought them in-warehouse and didn't struggle to find six with even edges.

Pretty great price and look nice for a home gym, a little smaller and thinner than the goat Tractor supply horse stall mats but still pretty nice overall.
Why tractor supply when they're more expensive than home Depot?

Tractor Supply are 3/4 inch vs these are 1/2 inch thick and TS mats are 4' x 6' vs these 3' x 5' so they are significantly more rubber so they cost more!

Liner? a treadmill mat you mean? Yes people do this all the time. IF you are trying to make the belt then no! No idea what a liner is .

This is Costco. I am referring to home Depot. Both are 3/4" thick. HD are 42" instead of 48". But $50

I got my Tractor supply mats for $50 they go on sale a lot. Nearest Home depot is an hour drive ( one way)from me and I didn't even know Home Depot carried mats when I built my gym a couple years ago. I think Home Depo carrying them is a new thing I have only recently seen people recommending HD mats on YT or Reddit home gyms threads.

I didn't even know it was possible to be an hour from a home Depot in the US. HD has had them for a year or two now but not all stores

If using for a home gym. Better to get 3/4 inch (not 1/2 inch).

Reason is because you can drop iron plates and iron dumbbells on 3/4 rubber mats, and won't do any harm to the floor. Mats that are 1/2 can't take dropping weight, you will have to more gently place the weight on the floor, not drop. And even if you plan to place them gently, accidents happen and weight gets dropped on the floor.
