The Ninja Creami Deluxe is a strong fit for high protein, low sugar, and lower calorie ice cream, sorbet, and protein shake desserts, with plenty of room for flavor tweaks and mix ins. It can turn out very good results fast once the pint is frozen, and the refurb units often arrive looking nearly new in original packaging. The big tradeoffs are noise, which is closer to a blender at full blast, and the need for careful prep and a flat freeze. A few reports also flag blade, paddle, leak, and durability issues, so the refurb savings matter most if you are comfortable with some risk.

its a blender that works as an ice cream maker. It's good
Its not a blender. You use a real blender to prepare what goes into the container before freezing.

What brand and flavor of protein do you use? Kids hate the one I use for their smoothies.

Any suggestions for choc or vanilla protein powder WITHOUT sucralose/splenda or stevia? I can't stand the aftertaste of most artificial sweetners. Aspartame is the only exception so far.

I use Allulose for the main sweetener for my ice cream. The flavored protein powder I use has Stevia, but after adding 100 grams of Allulose I don't notice the Stevia.

You and the kiddies are going to LOVE IT! It not only tastes SO GOOD, but the texture is quite rich and satisfying as well.

I did a quick Google on recipes and it recommended adding Chocolate pudding for texture and chocolate milk, but I think I'll use regular milk since we don't want it to be too sweet.

Just got mine in the mail today and it's defective... the paddle falls off when I install the bowl making it unusable. Apparently this is a common issue.

I guess I'll be the only person ITT who didn't like this. Blade popped off on second use despite the stuff being frozen following the manual's specifications. If it doesn't freeze completely flat you have to thaw and then refreeze. Consistency was good the one time it worked but the machine is too temperamental imo.

You can scrape the hump with a spoon.

I was thinking the same thing. Add the cost of the ingredients to make ice cream, I can buy a lot of Blue Bell ice cream at $5.50 a half gallon on sale.

Blue Bell is rarely $5.50 in my area of Texas. If you use heavy cream it can be expensive, but I learned that whole milk still makes a good ice cream.

Plus you get all of the chemicals added to Blue Bell

Tempting but not sure it's going to justify the storage space
