Anyone have good luck with a certified refurb? Do they come perfectly clean?

So I have this, and an i4. I've had to replace the main brush assembly every year or so. Wasn't bad when it was $50 but now it's up to $90. I'm thinking about just getting this instead but I hate having a half usable unit in the trash.

I've had three. One at retail from Amazon, and two of these refurbs from various sources at around this price.

All units have been decent. 6 years old for my original, and 4-5 for the others.

Batteries aren't lasting so long, but I've ignored that mostly. Bought an after market for one unit, which didn't work. A second battery, same specs, did work.

I've changed filters, brushes every few months, and rollers on each once.

Near daily use.

Two go off line occasionally, some issue with not charging well on the base. Occasionally and not terrible.

I've been happy with all 3 considering my average cost has been under 200 with the self empty dock.

They are probably still the best for carpet. They are loud on bare floors and while emptying at the base, and slower and less precise than newer lidar units. But they are built like tanks, and parts are usually easy to get. I've got two large dogs the love to wrestle in the mud / clay. One of my units runs twice a day every day and fills the 90 day bag every few weeks. I'm sad the new units are just rebranded junk because I was hoping they'd keep the modular parts going. So, depending on your use case, it's been a workhorse for me.

Where are you getting your parts? I feel like there are kits with multiple full replacements (spinners, filters, rollers) for like $20.

So my issue is that I have a lot of fine dust and clay at my current house and despite keeping up with filter changes it still ends up in the fan motor and binds it up in the bearing. This is what I use to buy for $50 and was okay with it because it included new rollers. But at $90 replacing the actual blower fan with a part off of ebay is more tempting. https://www.irobot.com/en_US/room...06166.html

I bought two of these refurbished ebay ones back in Nov 2023 when it was posted on SD. We are still using them. They are good.
I feel like my Waze had a better cleaning. But this has auto empty which is great.

I have 3 females with long hair in my house. I have a Dyson animal full size. Which cleans much better. But I do like the automation and it keeps the house dust and pollen free because I can't vacuum manually every other day.

Also, just know this model is not the J7+ with the mop feature. THERE IS NO MOP on this

Also, at $150, i think its a good buy. I bought mine for $300 each. I do wonder the support as iRobot is coming out of bankruptcy restructuring

Mine just got delivered today. With the exception of a scratch on the top, it came super clean and with an extra dust bag. The best part is the two year warranty from Squaretrade

AHH. The whole damn assembly!! Yeah, that would suck to have to replace on the regular.

I bought a couple of these from Amazon two or three years ago. It was the only way to afford a vacuum on each floor. They still work. Object avoidance is useful since I have pets and pets can make messes from time to time. These take a while to program. And the app they use is not the brand new app the company just rolled out. It's fine tho. Gets the job done. Auto empty from vacuum to the bin tho-- it's loud. Very loud. Be warned.

For $10 you can get the option that includes the mop function as well, this is useful if you have mostly hardwood floors.

Now that china bought them I'm leery to use the smart ones in my house. I do have 4 roombas but neither is app connected, blue tooth available.

But ya I expect no less than "IDGAF about my privacy to save $1" from SD

It's cheap for a reason
