Love the deal, but why include the charger if the inverter wiring diagram shows it can be grid-tied?

You can use it to charge the battery with dirty energy, like from a non inverter generator or modified sine wave inverter

This inverter will only charge at 120v not 240. So that's where the charger comes in handy. Not automated so that's a huge bummer.
