That's just the regular price. In warehouse it's on sale for $399 YMMV.

We purchased. It is so cheaply made. The metal flexes. We needed to change out the drain hose to reach. The drain hose is so short. We discovered that the pump was too weak to accommodate the extra two feet of hose. The unit has to be continuously reset. We can return but for what? Everything else has similar bad ratings for an extra $200-$500. Whirlpool makes Maytag so that should tell you what to stay away from.

Whirlpool who makes Maytag has problems these days. Google them...

Got this as a "good deal" last time (3 years ago) and currently in the process of replacing it with an LG as the warranty just ended a few months beforehand. Would not recommend this appliance without extended warranty though they can be pretty good at avoiding coverage. Maybe for $399 in-store, it could be passable for a 3 year lifespan.

Models can be very different. Return it as it's a long term investment in your clothes. I can find you a good one for a good value let me know. If you have a budget that'd be even better.

Whirlpool is historically decent but Maytag is not the name many of us grew up with. Today the Maytag repairman is not working because their products aren't worth repairing. If you can afford it, brand to get remains Speed Queen. My only problem is that their combo one piece unit weighs over 300 pounds and two men were needed to move it.

Yeah, I know LG is not famous for their longevity but I have LG washer and dryer I bought almost 12 years ago and they still run strong.
