FWIW, I like ACE quite a lot, but the Lowes Trade in deal seems like the better deal. Same battery with a charger plus a $50 coupon if you trade in an old battery. Details, dates and locations are on Craftsman website. Then buy the battery 2 pack for $49 (with the coupon),and get a free tool.
The details say "one per customer" but apparently that means "per day", ime. I have traded in 4 older 2ahs in to different local locations. It you have a few, it helps if you bring a spouse or friend along.

Trade-in event is for extremely limited locations and for a single day per location. There's restrictions on what kinds/types of batteries are accepted, but clicking around the landing page and browsing the various pdf's to download, I couldn't find an exclusion list.

Typical of the "new" crapsman, aka "black & decker".

Meh, the battery and charger is worth $30, and each one of those tools is worth $30-$50. This is a regular kind of deal, not slick. I would prefer to buy the ryobi circular saw and jigsaw for $60 and then use a battery adapter from another tool brand.

This isn't a great deal if you only want the kind of simple tools that you would normally buy in a combo kit, like a drill or a circular saw.

If you're like me, and want the cordless trim router and the cordless wet/dry vacuum cleaner, this absolutely is a slick deal.

I would agree that the wide choice of free tools -17 different options - makes the deal slick.

No actual restrictions on the battery - it just has to be a power tool battery (I traded in a generic 3rd party DeWalt-compatible 12V battery I got for free) - but my gripe about the events is how few they provide. I went to two stores, and one had 10 units for giveaway and the other had 15. Absolutely absurd to have so few...
