I own this and it great. I believe it is the shortest impact in on the market. I own the Milwaukee M12 Surge and it is shorter front to back than the Surge. When paired with a 1.7 Powerstack, it is extremely compact and has plenty of power. I watched a comparison of 870 and the new Gen II Surge, and the Dewalt was significantly better. The only negative is it that it only has two speed setting and should have a third setting. It is not great for driving fasteners precisely. The M12 Surge not nearly as powerful, but it is great for driving fasteners very precisely. At a price of $129, this is a good deal, although I pick mine up during a Lowe's sale for $99.

Thank you so much for this info. I ended up buying the dewalt 12v screwdriver since I needed something with more control like a clutch and lightweight. But perhaps I could have waited for a deal on the m12 surge. I think the current m12 surge has been around for a few years, hopefully they make a new Gen.
Even if you have the m12 surge for more control and a screwdriver with a clutch, do you think its worth getting the dewalt quiet hydraulic?

I have both and a few other impacts. The 860 is a great impact and maybe a little more powerful, but I reach for this one almost all the time now.
