I just bought a 12 gal. Stealthsonic & an adjacent related question came up re: adapters. The general consensus seems to be that 2-½" starts at 12 gal & everything below is 1-⅞"—the real question is whether it makes sense for your use case(s) to use a smaller diameter hose like this. If you're using it for dust collection it probably does, but that means youl also need corresponding 1-⅞" adapters (vs 2-½") for your tools.

I also ended up getting an adapter for the sucky end that swivels since—for whatever reason—they only provide a swiveling connection at the vacuum end. This makes it a real bitch to use if you're doing "spot" cleaning and nigh impossible if you're using it for dust collection from a tool.

For this reason a 3rd-party replacement swivel cuff was basically requirement & per another SD user's recommendation I bought one on Etsy from a store called SuctionEqualsSafety that sells both 2-½" and 1-⅞" swivel cuff replacements. You'll have to remove the stock hose cuff which is reverse threaded onto the hose (and in my case was also glued). I wiggled a long flathead screwdriver (thinner the better) up under the hose cuff from the hose end by twisting it left & right to loosen up the glue & make a path until I got it all the way through, held the flathead end with my left hand and the handle with my right & worked my way around using equal leverage to keep the screwdriver parallel to the cuff until it finally let go. It was a pain in the ass actually, but the new cuff threaded on (lefty-tighty) fine with no leaks or seal issues. The 3rd party cuff also was a little flexible & rubberized which is kind of nice because it has some give to it—which also makes it a little more sticky, but a little Blaster/WD40 Specialist Dry Lube will erase that problem.

Wow, that was really hard for me to explain and I've only had 2 drinks. EDIT: Actually now that I'm done it's 4, so hopefully this is helpful to other people lmao 🍻

Do these work on larger vacuums? It states 6-10 gallon, but am I correct in thinking that it's a universal-ish connector to the vac? Does it state 6-10 because those usually come with 1⅞" vs 2½"?

They'll work on it you would need a 2 1/2 to 1 7/8 adapter. Those are standard sizes for any shop vac. If you scroll down they have the models it works on if you have a Dewalt and a reducer if you need.

As stated, you will need adaptors. In my experience, it is best to find a kit of adaptors so you have many that end up costing far less and provides a number of options for tools, etc.

Or someone painted the dewalt hoses orange. The compnaies probably get them from the same manufacturing facility and brand them.

It's much less red and a lot more yellow.

Great info, thank you! I have that same unit. In addition to the swivel from etsy, do you recommend a specific adapter that would make it compatible for this hose?

Edit: I ended up getting this adapter set: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Shop-Vac...5013192279

Glad it was helpful! Not sure I'm entirely clear what you're looking to do—are you wanting to adapt your 2½ hose to this 1⅞ hose with a coupler? If so, that kit probably wouldn't work since it's designed for tools & it looks like from the reviews it's for 2¼ (some complaints about 2½ compatibility). This adapter: https://www.homedepot.com/p/DEWAL...re-details
can adapt to chain these hoses together, and that Etsy store I linked has one that swivels for a few bucks more:
https://www.etsy.com/listing/4455...c-hose-tip

Then you'd just need a 1⅞ swivel and you'd have a swiveling joint and a swiveling cuff at the end of your chained hoses. That way if you wanted to pull your 1⅞ hose off & just use the stock hose you'll still have a swiveling end, although of you don't have 1⅞ accessory/attachments you'd have to swap your OEM cuff back on to use the ones that came with your Stealthsonic.

Hopefully I interpreted you correctly—lots of options either way.👌

I recently purchased https://www.costco.com/p/-/dewalt...?langId=-1 ($20 off right now, by the way, only $79 for a great vacuum) - this appears to be the default hose that comes with it.

Thanks. This saves me work by dedicating this (random) hose to a mobile shop tool.

I end up with an involved hose-hacked attachment combo involving electrical harness / foam / gaffer tape, tie-wraps, velcro, hose clamps, etc. Then it's just which random vacuum is available. It's nice that one end of the hose has a taper.

Kinda confused. The stealth sonic comes with default 2.5 inch hose, this deal is for 1.875. Thought the point was to get a skinnier hose for greater suction. I was under the impression that the swivel joint on etsy was just for convenience, but you'd still need an adapter to get this skinny hose to work with the stealth sonic.
