I recently bought one of those midwest plastic cans from tractor supply. After a couple months storing some gas in my garage the inside of the can turned white. I have much older cans storing gas much longer that have never done this. Hopefully these cans will do a better job.

What does "oil-tight" even mean? Was the previous model not "oil-tight"? Inquiring minds want to know. What types of oil can I keep in these, and exactly how tightly will it be kept?

+1 for the Wavians. I just got 6 with holders for my service truck. Those things are tanks. The downside being that they're damn heavy when full.

Can anyone recommend a good spout to get for a wavian that does not have any weird prevention that makes gas spill everywhere?

In theory oil tight is better than water tight but is likely just marketing. Oil seeps more than water so is much better at escaping seals and gaskets (vs water). But honestly unless you store the can upside down or on its side, it won't likely matter for something like this where the only gasket is on the top..a weld on the bottom or sides is going to leak or it won't.

I don't see mention of a pressure-relief mechanism, which is required by law in Texas.

I would personally stick to the plastic containers vs having anxiety that this damn these will rust in 10 years.

There's a lot of backwards pointless crap Texas requires. Like front license plates...

I used this gas can for a while, but after the first use, the paint began to deteriorate. It rubbed off onto my hands and started peeling off from the nose, likely because the gasoline is dissolving the coating. I would recommend choosing something better for long-term storage.

The harbor freight jerry cans are great after removing the spring from the spout:

But unfortunately the price has doubled since covid, so I don't know what to recommend at a reasonable price.
