okay endless garmin deals lately

my simple points about most of them

1. Garmin has already indicated Fenix9 is coming out by end of 2026 instead of 2027 which will push all prices down since better features/software on Fenix9 - check sites like GarminRumors .com for news

2. Never buy a Garmin over $500, as soon as factory refurbs are available from customer returns, they are "like new" and sometimes HALF the price, eventually

3. I've owned Garmin for two decades now, there has been a SERIOUS degrading of quality in their support, hardware and especially software since 2020, IMHO there is no Garmin worth over $500 anymore because of actual competition from other brands finally after all these years

personally I'm looking to exit the Garmin universe after all these years,
too many bugs and lack of features

Good watch, have a 47mm, wish I got the 42mm. Seems to get snagged a lot on things. If i would buy it again, i'd probably not get the amoled due to the shorter battery life. Can actually see the pictures from ring notifications alright with it though.

I have had this watch for a while now, and it is still going strong. Even with high-mileage weeks, I usually charge it monthly.

Absolutely spot on.On another garmin deal yesterday i complained about $2200 watch and people down voted me, i also have been using garmin watches for 15 years they were definitely very good but no anymore specially their support is going down and price is going up.And the fact that there is a huge competition for them now makes it definitely worth it to not to spend more than 500 on their watches.

What do you think are some good watch alternatives to the fenix 8. I've also had Garmin since the beginning all those years ago.

Coros vertix is a good alternative. Also if you use a sports watch for mostly running then go something that gives you more running data matrices like hr, pace, stamina, cadence, time in different zones, stride length etc etc P.S something that gives good information on recovery too.

You need to know what you want in a watch. I don't believe any of the alternatives will substitute for a dive computer, for instance, while the Fenix 8 does. I know people like to dis Garmin, but having tried alternatives I've always ended up coming back to Garmin as the others are frequently even worse! The Garmin series is effectively a jack of all trades and are usually the first to adopt new features (e.g., support for Radar). To those who think support has gotten worse: it used to be that Garmin charged you for maps outside the US (or whatever zone you bought the watch in). Now, you basically get access to all maps as part of the watch. That's a significant improvement. The flashlight on the watch was also another Garmin innovation that I now use a surprising amount.

Like someone else said if you think the price is too much just wait for the next version to come out and then prices will drop.

Which device would you replace a Garmin with?

I prefer the looks of the Aviator and Navigator watches. But it seems like they are outdated.

I don't understand why the higher in price you go, the less features and updates you have.

Like you have more features in a lower level (epic) than the Fenix and then less still in the Marq(?) series.

I just like the GPS features for vehicle driving (off road and motorcycle). Just hiking also, no running or diving.
