I`have only heard two or three people ever call them dikes - ever. It seems to be a term that is still used in cow-country and the US Navy. Confused The old guys that were around always called them cutters or nippers. The guy that you got them from in the plant tool crib only referred to the them as diagonal cutting pliers.
