This open-box Lenovo Yoga 7 2 in 1 stands out as a 16 inch Ryzen AI laptop with 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD, making it a solid everyday work machine. The 2240 M.2 SSD is the only drive slot, so storage upgrades are limited, and the RAM is not upgradable. The display is only 300 nits, which may feel dimmer than expected. Open-box condition and warranty status vary a lot, so checking the unit and receipt before leaving matters.

  • Lenovo support can update the warranty when a buyer provides the purchase receipt.

  • Lenovo can reset the warranty date to one year from the purchase date after receipt verification.

  • The 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD configuration can reduce the need for immediate upgrades.

  • A floor-model unit can report healthy battery status with very low discharge cycles in Lenovo Vantage.

  • Some open-box units can arrive with missing accessories like a charger, preventing power-on verification.

  • Open-box condition and warranty recognition can be inconsistent, requiring a reset or Lenovo contact.

  • The SSD uses a shorter 2240 M.2 format that cannot fit a 2280 gumstick size.

  • The touchscreen brightness is limited to about 300 nits, which may feel dim for bright environments.

I picked one up at my local store [good condition]. There was no manufacturer warranty left, as apparently it looked it was purchased in Apr 2025. [lenovo website lists manufacturer warranty ended in Apr 2026 by serial number]. When I ran the battery report, it showed almost similar usage as if it was first used in Apr 2025.... battery only went thru 4 cycles of charge though as it seemed to be plugged in most of the time. Store folks said it most likely is a store return and NOT their display model.....Now i'm just wondering why are they selling it after almost 1 yr of return, if the original purchaser had 60-days to return.... and/or what was it doing with almost no usage/being plugged in all the time for an entire year.....all the hardware and software diagnostics came clean..... Happy with the item so far, yet curious what the history is....As it had only 14-day return policy and no manufacturer warranty, I purchased the 1yr subscription to "MY BEST BUY TOTAL YEARLY MEMBERSHIP" for 180$ which bumps up the return window to 60-days just in case and adds their version of extended warranty.... Any thoughts on this?I'm thinking of cancelling this membership soon and just purchase extended warranty directly from lenovo which seems cheaper....
As ive read in a few of these similar deals in the past, all you have to do is contact Lenovo support and provide a receipt for when you purchased the device and they will update their warranty since an individual is buying rather than the company.

Pulled the trigger on one categorized as "Fair" today, 30 minutes away ($500 after tax). It was a floor model, at least a year old, according to the sticker on the underside. Came in a brown mailing envelope with just the charger. So far, so good. I haven't seen any cosmetic flaws at all. It didn't turn on without the power cord, so I plugged it in and it did, as expected. Didn't boot to Windows, though. Let it charge for a few minutes and tried again and this time it was fine.Opened the Lenovo Vantage app and it says the battery is at 100% health (it was at 41% charge) - max charge level is the same as the original max. Also says it has only had 3 discharge cycles. Real quick glance, don't see any dead pixels.I turned it off and am letting it charge. Still want to see if it holds a charge ok and will boot properly on battery power. I will actually be using it plugged in nearly all the time with the laptop shut (external monitor, keyboard, and mouse for work). But for now, it looks solid. I'll report back if I find any problems.
Make sure you unplug and power cycle the battery once every to every other month. Being constantly plugged in will kill the battery. I have a Dell laptop that bought brand new just 2 months before the pandemic. After leaving it plugged in for literally 3 years without ever unplugging it or moving it (sameb environment of closed lid, external components connected), and the battery depletes very quickly now and probably needs replacing.

Contact Lenovo customer service with the BB receipt and you may get warranty update starting from the purchase date.

According to the product page on Best Buy's website and in some searches I did, it does appear that there is a one-year warranty that applies as of when you buy the product.

The one I bought was a floor model and had that stock retail profile installed. I had to completely reset the PC - fresh Windows install - to get rid of it (other tricks didn't work) and now the Lenovo software doesn't think I have a warranty. I'll have to call them to get it reset.
It took a little searching, but there is a page on Lenovo's site (I created an account and registered my laptop first) that allowed me to request a warranty date reset. Had to attach my receipt, of course. They reset the warranty to one year from my purchase date the next day.
So far, so good with the laptop. Battery life probably isn't as advertised, but that's probably because it was a floor model (though the Lenovo app says it is very healthy). It's still several hours, so it's fine.

My one pet peeve so far, aside from little quirks I have to get used to compared to my previous laptop, is that I can't figure out the ideal PgUp/PgDn configuration. There are three sets of these keys: on the arrow keys (have to press Fn to use them), in the top-right corner, shared with media keys (play, FF, etc.), and on the 9 and 3 keys of the number pad. Don't want to press Fn with the arrow keys and can't get the PgUp and PgDn in the upper right to work, so my best option at this point seems to be to leave NumLock off when I don't need it and use those keys. I'm sure I'll figure it out at some point.

Buyer beware!

Today I purchased this online for $473 marked as "Excellent" condition.

I then drove a total of 2h roundtrip to pick it up.

When they brought it out, it was in a padded sleeve with "charger missing" written on the envelope.

Definitely not excellent condition, and I had no way to verify if it even powered on.

I canceled the order. I feel this was bait and switch. Any suggestions?

Which is a better laptop for day to day regular use (no gaming at all) mostly for work. Either I will take it with me for work (travel frequently) or keep it at home for spouse who WFH.

This current Lenovo Yoga 16" 16GB 1TB SSD (Open-Box FAIR for $432)

OR Lenovo Yoga 7 2-in-1 - Copilot+ PC - 14" 2K OLED Touchscreen Laptop - AMD Ryzen AI 5 340 2025 - 16GB Memory - 512GB SSD - Seashell (Open-Box GOOD) = $563.99

OR HP - OmniBook 3 - 14" 2K Touchscreen Laptop - Snapdragon X - 16GB Memory - 512GB SSD - Copilot+ PC - Warm Gold (Open-Box Excellent) = $482.99

I'd probably cancel the BB Total and get the Lenovo warranty with ADP. Use code SRVC1309 for 15% off.
Thanks for the input folks. I was able to raise a case by myself in the Lenovo account page after registering the product and attached receipt of purchase and they honored it and started the warranty for 1 yr from date of purchase.

Managed to find for my uncle a "good" condition for $447. It's 1 hr 15mins away, which sucks if Best Buy's "good" condition is wrong with damages not noted. Any way to confirm before I go there the condition? I do not go to Best Buy nowadays like 20 years ago, and earlier this year when I bought an open box sound bar system in "excellent" condition, it had the surround speakers missing. That's like buying a car with two rear wheels missing. Glad I checked before I left the store.
EDIT: picked it up. Not sure what's with Best Buy lately, but the laptop was just sitting bare naked behind a lock case. No box, no protective sleeve, not even a plastic bag. I told them to give me a charger. They said it does not come with a "good" condition item. I said, "wrong" and showed them their own policy. They gave me a charger. Miraculously, it was the correct one, 65W.
The laptop started up with an error which forced a restart. Then after I got in, it looks like there were programs installed from 2024. Best Buy Geniuses my ass! No wonder I don't use Bes Buy but once every 2 years nowadays.
