No need to wait until the last day and risk forgetting and getting charged. You can cancel right away after joining and just turns off auto-renew and leaves your current membership period unchanged.

Thank you! Been waiting for Walmart to send me a "Please come back at 50% off" offer, but no luck so far.
This offer was on my AMEX Blue card, so this is perfect!

Do they still ask for the "optional" tip for delivery?
I believe they do; I haven't shopped for delivered items in a while, though.

No.

I ordered something recently on Walmart.com which was delivered by a gig worker.
There is no way to know at the time you place the order.

The tracking on my particular item showed that it was shipped from a Walmart warehouse to a Walmart hub similar to Amazon. Then it was delivered by a gig worker.

There is no place to add a tip.
It used to be only for items delivered from local store (e.g. grocery - say, cereal). Other stuff (like a tool) that you order online had no "tip". I don't know exacly when they ask for it. Anyway, that was the main reason why I ended up canceling my W+.

Shipping is no tip. Delivery has a tip option.

I generally only use delivery for items that can't be shipped, like refrigerated or fresh items.

Normally a "shipping" would have completely be with FedEx.
Now Walmart has switched partially to the Amazon model where part of the shipment is handled internally, then the "last mile delivery" is handled by a gig worker. What is "delivery" and what isn't is now blurred.
When I have ordered grocery to be delivered, I use Instacart+. I recently signed up for a year for $19. And every month, I have $20 credit to use because of my Chase Ink Business Cash credit card. No point in getting Walmart+ unless it was free.

are you confusing same-day shipping with "delivery"? I believe the "delivery" option does suggest tipping. Same-day shipping (delivered by gig workers) do not.
Nope. Not confused.
It was not same-day shipping either. I got the mini chainsaw 2 days later.
It was definitely not delivered by FedEx which was Walmart's preferred shipper.

Check your Walmart account, guys. I got an offer that says to "Pay $1 for 30 days of membership & unlock $25 Walmart Cash after your promo period!"...so renewing on the annual membership after the 30 days should in theory allow me stack both promos. Thanks & repped, OP!

Fine print: "Walmart Cash will be issued following the 30-day promotional period for annual plan signup. Auto-renews to annual plan unless cancelled before promotional period ends."
It was on the website before I logged in.
Gone after I logged in.
Nope. Not paying $49 for Walmart+.

Is Walmart+ worth having? What are your favorite perks?
I had this a couple years ago. Amex had the same deal and walmart had a promo for 50 in Walmart cash, so my membership was essentially free. For me, it didnt really change my grocery habits-still need $35 or more for free pickup I believe, but non food stuff- all the one off or just a few random items needed are delivered free, and usually arrive pretty quickly for me. The biggest benefit was being able to order whatever I wanted without a minimum. I took advantage of so much clearance stuff etc that year. Might choose to enroll again at half off even without anything additional sweetening the deal. Glad we have a couple months to decide

Not on either of my cards. Guess I'm stuck renewing this month. At least AARP gets it for $59 so no too bad
You're a genius. My next renewal is now suppose to be only $59 and I don't have to jack with it every year.

I just checked by ordering something for "delivery" today, and sure as shit, there it was, asking for an optional tip, which it never does with same-day shipping (both delivered by gig workers in their personal cars), which was the point I was making in my post.

For items where you select the "Delivery" button, yes, they do ask for (optional) tip. Same-day shipping (usually from a local store) does not ask for a tip. Delivery has an order minimum, and same-day shipping does not with W+. I can order a $9 item for same day delivery, no fees, no tips.

Sorry to hijack this, but my membership expires in July. I went to cancel it and it gave me another 50% off offer. So if you don't have AMEX, and still have your current membership you might get this offer when canceling.

Did you get at the first cancel or the second confirm cancellation prompt?

No, it just gave me a renewal reminder email. Saying it will auto renew mid July. So I went into my app and I want to cancel it and it gave me renew for 50% off
