I bought 3 of these from their eBay store and 1 directly from Bose web site, all different colors for kids and all 4 showed up looking brand new. Only way you could tell was by the box saying refurbished. Most of these are probably customer returns, but their refurbish process is top notch, everything appears to be new, all cables are wrapped up and packaged just like from factory. I'm very happy with these. Kids also love them, they're super comfy and easy to operate with no touch controls and good old fashioned buttons and switches. I have sony XM5s personally and thought Bose was more comfortable.

So I did the greentoe bid on the sonys a couple days ago and have been waffling about paying 325 for some cans. The ultras here are 203 with tax - are they close in performance to the sonys?

34.99$, then 37.99$ IIRC.

I buy Krone and they're really good but only 8/10 on NC vs OEM.

The lack of buttons on the Ultra is a real problem. I tried and returned them. Also, they were incredibly light, the startup noise is annoying, the headband creaked, and there was no way to turn off auto-sleep.

I also paid 327 for the xm6 and am testing them compared to the Bose QC generation 1. The xm6 does have better noise cancellation but it's not way way better but definitely better. The talk through on the Sony is way better though. The Bose are much more comfortable than the Sony. Also Bose has actual buttons for volume where as sony has the dumb touch control. I think the sony xm6 is better but I'm comparing it to 1st generation Bose that I got for 176. The Bose ultra second generation is too expensive

It should be noted that these are 1st gen (as the 2nd gen ones exist).
