Someone grab this one while you still can! It's a great machine with a nice big display (I'm upgrading from a base 16GB/256GB M4 I bought last year and this model is actually cheaper than what I paid in 2025 for 1/3 less RAM and 1/4 of the storage!)

As in, garage sale used. If a place says "refurbished" or similar, but doesn't explicitly say what they've done -- then all they've performed is a power test, a wipe down of the casing, and a system reset.
No components have been replaced, no batteries refreshed, etc. In other words, nothing has been actually refurbished.
Descriptors such as "Very Good" or "Excellent" or "Open Box" are meaningless and vague enough to suggest pretty much anything. Don't be surprised if they sneak in machines that really ought to be in a lower tier. Assume any accessories (power supply, cabling, etc) are third-party or counterfeit.
You might get a system that's a corporate lease that's been babied on a desk....or a beat-up road warrior laptop. Sight unseen. Good luck.

I placed my order for this last night a few minutes after it went on sale. Its for a BRAND NEW SHIPPED AND SOLD BY AMAZON.
only downside for me is it will be delivered on Saturday. Worth the wait IMO

Only larger discounts are for iphones from Cellular providers that require 24-36 month contract agreements, in which they end up being more expensive in the long run FOR A SINGLE LINE (family plans are where the ultimate savings are). Sometimes Mint mobile offers decent deals as well.
