One potential issue is in the shipping. Amazon put it side way in a box to ship. If one did not keep it upright for at least 24 hours before turning it on, it may damage the compressor. Mine was delivered totally upside down. So I put it back in upright position for 4 days before I turn it on.
With my Jackery 1000+, if it's fully charged, it seems to just pass the power through when getting 12V power (cigarette lighter), and when the car is off (my car cuts the power when I open the door) it powers the cooler. When I start the car back up, it starts to charge the Jackery and power the cooler at the same time (charges slower if the refrigerator is on, but just like a regular fridge, it's often off).

Having dual zones is nice. Can have both a fridge and freezer at the same time.
I figure if I only need a 30q or 12q refrigerator, I can just turn the other half off and it'll use less power. I would expect that just using the dual as two refrigerators would be more inefficient than a big 42q, but with the option of only using one side, or using one as a freezer has some additional flexibility. Depending on the day, I could just make the small side be a fridge.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CFF9J47K. It's more right now, but I got it for $262.25 on sale (I've seen it on sale a lot with and with a clipable coupon).
Today I see it has a 10% code bringing it down to $240, ZYE50DVJT7EG not sure if that's targeted or for everyone, but it's a redeem button on the product page.
I also keep a blanket over it (don't block the vents) and use one of those windshield shades to block the sun some by the window that it's near.
EDIT June 21, 2026: The 42 quart dual I linked above just dropped to $265.04 with another
5%NOW 10% off at check out (that's $239-ish). As I mentioned the these jump around a bit, but that's the lowest I've seen this year (the discounts don't always get factored into the price tracking sites). Also, the 34q is $10 less, it's got the same footprint as the 42q, but not as tall.Sign up for a Slickdeals account to remove this ad.

Quick search the most cars do now to protect drain batteries.
