This HP Omen 35L is a strong all around gaming and productivity tower, mainly because it pairs an RTX 5080 with 64GB of RAM and a 4TB SSD. The storage and memory make the package feel more complete than many prebuilts, and the price looks better if the HP private store drops it to $2,705. The main knocks are the DDR5 5600 memory and the Ryzen 9 9900X3D, which draw comparisons to faster RAM and stronger gaming CPUs in similarly priced builds. It still looks like a solid value if you want lots of capacity and a high end GPU in one box.

Common Questions (5)

  • It is generally viewed as a decent-to-good deal for the current market because it includes a 4TB SSD and 64GB of RAM, which are expensive parts. The main criticism is the DDR5-5600 memory and the CPU choice, since some comparable builds offer faster RAM or a better gaming CPU for similar money.

  • For gaming, the 9900X3D is described as a step down from the 9800X3D and may trail it by about 17% on average, with weaker 1% lows. It is still considered strong for productivity and light gaming, and some benchmarks show it performing better than expected in many games.

  • Yes, DDR5-5600 is the most criticized part of the configuration because faster DDR5-6000 or DDR5-6400 kits are available for relatively little more. Others prioritize stability and say the RAM speed matters less than the GPU and overall system reliability.

  • The GPU can be overclocked and undervolted, but the system is limited on CPU and memory tuning. If the RAM does not run at full speed, the BIOS advanced menu reportedly cannot be accessed to fix it.

  • Yes, the price can drop to $2,705 with access to the HP private store. That makes the system noticeably cheaper than the listed $2,849.99 price.

I have looked at 100 different places test these 2 cpus for gaming and on average the 9900 performs 17% less. It's great for productivity but for gaming the 9800 blows the 9900 away. Especially 1% lows. So it depends on if you are using this system for work for gaming the 9800 is superior. This is a good deal for work and light gaming.
So we agree, the linked MC pc using the 9850x3d with the faster memory, is a better PC.

If HP came out with a bargain Omen with a 5090 that had an AMD CPU, I'd buy it. But all the deals on those have been with Intel CPUs and I just don't want. My only gripe with this build, which is a good price, is putting 64GB of DDR5-5600 in it. DDR5-6400 is ~$100 more retail. Make it $100 with better RAM sand it's so much better. I don't want to pay $850 for DDR5-5600 RAM. It just annoys me.

This isn't terrible but what are we doing with DDR5-5600 in an almost $3000 PC? For a MicroCenter comparison, this is about the closest: https://www.microcenter.com/produ...-gaming-pc and that has DDR5-6000 at least.Still, this does have a 4TB SSD and that's not cheap these days. Combined with 64GB of RAM this actually is pretty decent.
That's like 600$ difference between the ram and ssd alone

I would still pick an Andromeda Insights v3 over this. After taxes both will be about 3k but the AI build would have ddr 6000 cl30, a better AIO cooler, and 1000w psu. Btw 9850 is better for gaming.
Is that with 1 tb ssd and 32 gb ram

I don't think the ram speed matters that much, I prefer stability, my 14900k/4090 has 5200 4 dimms 64gb, its been flawless. I dont really care about the processor any more its all about the gpu. Look for the 45l max deals there have been a couple. I just snagged a 35L with a 5070ti and a 14700f, 32gb/1tb for 1399. My oldest 45L is a 12900k, 3080ti, 32gb ddr4 3733, its connected to my big tv, the 35l is replacing it and I'm moving the old 45L to a virtual pinball machine.

There is a 4TB slick deal for $385. 64gb (32x2) where on ale for $650 also. 5080 is about $1100-1200 on Dela. This makes the rest of the computer. $$700-800 so it doesn't seem much of a deal.

I
CPU $400? Or too low So that leaves $300-400 for

Mobo
Case
Power
?

Seems like it's not that good of a deal ???

HP computers do not allow overclocking. If you change the memory stick and it doesn't run at full speed, you can't change it because you can't access the advanced menu in BIOS.
The best part about HP Omen are that only the motherboard (and the GPU, sort of) are HP branded so everything else is good quality name brand stuff. Swap the mobo and it's great. I will say my RTX 3090 is an HP branded and was never hitting the FPS other 3090s would do. But good enough

Believe they are talking about this deal, which is also customizable (I'd personally look at 2GB, faster ram (CL30), and 1000w PSU, which still makes it ~$2700.
