Has anyone tried them out to see if they actually work. I had a UPF shirt that I still got sunburned with so its going in the trash.

One test you can do is to hold up one part of the shirt to a light and see how much you can see through it. If you can see pretty clearly through it, then that means the sun will be able to penetrate easily.
