I have the previous generation b-hyve. It's not difficult if you are replacing an existing controller. Just take lots of pictures before you start removing wires.

I'm starting from scratch unfortunately.. would need to hook into the water main with a backflow and also sort out the electric.... I'll stick with the garden hose version for now Smilie

I have a previous generation which was rock solid for a long time, is has been disconcerting from wifi frequently requiring and unplug. This was attractive since it's newer, but a quick scan of reviews shows a lot of poor reviews regarding wifi. At least the old model could be programmed via the display on the unit.

When folks complain about wifi, I discount the complaint, because I know most folks aren't technical and will completely ignore a weak signal or maybe won't tweak the channel to minimize interference. For example, I bought a Soliom Bird Feeder and initially put it in an area where it had a weak signal. It would go offline within 3 or 4 days every time, requiring a reboot to get it back online. I finally moved it to a spot where it had a good signal. It's been rock solid ever since. It goes months without a reboot and just works.

The very first Wifi B-Hyve controller was crap. You could pull the plug out of the socket and it would fry the board. It happened to me. They revised the design to include a resistor in the circuit. I'm no electrical engineer or electrician, but that revised unit has been rock solid for me the last 10 years or so. I'm replacing it with the new unit because the new unit is compatible with Flume water monitors and also supports drip irrigation. It's nice to have manual controls, but I never use them.
