last time something like this was posted said there is really bad reviews on them. The bag leaks and doesn't seal.

I bought these during the last deal and so far they work good. I'll purchase again for the extra bags and a backup pump.

I use similar bags, and they work, but there are a couple of gotchas:

Obviously, you must close it tightly to create a good seal, and the included tool helps you do that.

Secondly, the plastic is prone to fatigue when repeatedly folded, and you could create failure points if you tried to evacuate all the air. You could try to find the leaks and patch them from the outside, but for me the best policy is to just leave a little air for a loose fit. The bags should last many more cycles if you're not too ambitious.

these bags are still prone to leakage after a few uses and wind up in the trash - like the rest; BUT the vacuum port is way nicer than the flat type. good price as it comes with the pump. comes with disposable silica gell (which technically can be dried a few times before its junk. over $20 on Aliexpress. I use these for longer term filament storage coupled with color change dessicant pouches. usually you can tell just by looking at them which ones have failed.

All of them leak eventually. Buy some cereal boxes for $5 each from Amazon, some hygrometers for $1 each, and print yourself a base that holds desiccant (orange Dry & Dry is my go to) like https://makerworld.com/en/models/...Id-1152396. 100% better solution.

why this over, say, a dryer to remove moisture that will inevitably contaminate the filament?

I'm going to continue with my harvested desiccant packets and gallon zip lock bags from costco. Maybe someday I'll buy a dryer

Those won't work, no valve. Plus they look absurdly small for filament rolls.

As someone who does both, I'd say the bags allow you to almost instantly remove a 'dry' spool from a sealed bag and install it on your printer. A dryer is at least a 2 hour process which would delay a color / filament change.

I think they both have their place but now I have a very similar pump (probably the same just not branded Creality) I very rarely use my dryer unless my filaments start acting up like they are humid from hanging out on the machine too long.

Substitute Costco with Amazon subscribe& save with coupon and that'd be the exact same thing I'm doing.

Unless you are really limited on space and only ever have a few spools that you need stored away, these are usually needlessly frustrating to deal with. The bags (maybe not this exact brand, I'm not sure) often don't work at all or degrade quickly and the pumps are often underpowered, don't hold a charge or annoying to use. My 2 versions I tried are packed away somewhere now lol. It's so much easier to just get a large airtight container from like Walmart or target (there are brands with rubber gaskets and 6 clamps along the other edges to get good seals) and then you can load up a couple dozen open spools, drop in as much desiccant as you want and a meter to check from the outside and you'll be good to go. I have a few pounds of clear desiccant... With a small portion of the color changing mixed in to make it easier to know when it needs recharging, and then just fill up those cheap mesh gift bags you can get for a few dollars on Amazon. Works great. Then at Dollar General I found these $1.50, I better the aluminum whatever type of desiccant, boxes that I throw in too because they are so cheap lol. The box never shows above 10% humidity. No dealing with cheap annoying bags or failing vacuum cubes. Just pop open when you need a spool or to store a spool and be done.

Glad to hear these bags are as bad as the ones for clothes
