Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II are best known for strong active noise cancellation and a comfortable true wireless fit, with sound that still earns praise. The Bose app is optional for basic use, though it mainly handles button, gesture, and EQ customization. The main drawbacks are reliability and convenience issues, including flaky connections, app logouts, case dependent pairing, no wireless charging, and occasional one bud or sync problems. Wind can also reduce noise cancelling performance, making them a solid ANC pick if those tradeoffs are acceptable.

Common Questions (5)

  • They can be flaky: some users report constant app logouts, occasional connection problems, one-bud or out-of-sync audio, and even pairing issues with seatback screens on United flights. The earbuds are still usable, but the connection experience can be inconsistent.

  • The noise cancelling is strong overall, but it can struggle when it's windy. For the best ANC, the QuietComfort Ultra is the newer step-up model.

  • The QuietComfort Ultra is the direct successor and keeps the same shape with class-leading ANC, while adding Immersive Audio, improved Bluetooth stability, and Android high-res codec support. If you want the best ANC and newer features, the Ultra is the better pick.

  • No. The earbuds can be paired and used like standard Bluetooth earbuds without the app. The app is mainly for customizing buttons, gestures, and EQ.

  • They may not connect to your phone if the charging case is dead, even when the earbuds themselves are charged. The case also has only one power light, so charge level is hard to judge, and it does not support wireless charging.

The Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds are the direct successor to the QuietComfort Earbuds II (QC II). While they share an identical physical shape and the same class-leading active noise cancellation (ANC), the Ultra model introduces spatial "Immersive Audio," improved Bluetooth stability, and high-res audio codec support for Android users

They sound great, but sometimes I just want to toss them.
1. They won't connect to my phone if the charging case is dead, even if the buds are fully charged.
2. The case only has one power light, and I have to guess how much charge is left by how long it stays on.
3. The charging case doesn't have wireless charging.
4. Sometimes the buds just won't connect, or only one connects, or the sound is out of sync.

I never had any of these problems with my Samsung buds and Samsung phone. When these die, I'll probably go back to Samsung.

I had those, and some of those issues. The second gen Ultra Earbuds - not the ones in this post - are much better. The call quality is stable and consistent, the sound quality is also improved.

Not sure which ones you got but I got today 2 of the QuietComfort Ultra earbuds Gen 1 from Costco each for $99.97. There is a deal for that. Check it out.

Read the reviews. They're spot on. These will break in 12-18 months. They will break just outside of warranty. Bose will send you a replacement pair—they will break. The adhesive is like Elmer's glue, so the headphones will come apart in warm weather. I have owned several Bose headphones. I'm not talking out of my butt.

It actually shows $149 not $100, so apparently deal is gone

Online it is 150 and has been for a few weeks. As per the instructions in the deal you need to check warehouse inventory and find one that has it at 99.

Yes. Although these are solid, pay more for the ultra if you're an audiophile and want the best ANC.Or buy the Ultra 1s for the same price refurbished on Amazon. I had them all.
"Audiophile" and "best ANC" are almost like polar opposites. I don't think Bose has ever catered to audiophiles, so the right call here would be for "best ANC"

Is it any better than Airpods pro3? Can it be objectively measured?
