Better? No. You have to understand that these priced goods are made specifically to compete with places like Harbor Freight, and as a result will end up being a bit on skimpy on the built quality.

That said, at this price point, this is bigger than what you can get at Harbor Freight. But I wouldn't be surprised if the store brands at Lowes and/or Home Depot lower prices to match eventually.

edit: Case in point

I have the full upper and lower set. They are ok. For sure not heavy duty professional grade. For this price it's not bad, I wouldn't pay full retail price for it though.

If it were at least 22 inches deep I'd buy it.

This one uses 18 and 20 gauge steel. Kobalt and Harbor Freight at this price range uses 19 and 21 gauge steel.

Most of the negative reviews are due to shipping damage. Few speak of cheap casters and some tip-over concerns.

Fairly certain they were this price for Black Friday or the holidays last year, just according to my informal tracking notes of them being $400.

I've had 6 of these for years, and they've held up perfectly. Literally zero issues. I have only two complaints. The top drawer isn't full length and the overall tool cabinet could be a bit deeper too but 18" isn't bad.

Would recommend at this price. The cheapest I've ever gotten one is $350 and that was over five years ago.

You are correct. I bought mine at Lowe's a week after BF for $399.

These are a little nicer than the common 46" Permasteel OEM units that get sold as Kobalt/Husky/Yukon, but those sometimes go for cheaper.
