There's no reason to go through your solar input with a 12v battery. Most units has a dedicated cigarette lighter style 12v input for charging from 12v. The reason some people use the solar input is because your 12v input is typically limited to about 10 amps on most power station which means a terribly slow charging rate of right around 120 watts. Many solar inputs wont even except 12v. it's too low. So people will wire higher voltage batteries to the solar input, with the higher the better as long as you don't exceed the max voltage. Most people find 48v batteries work best. Doing this allows you to charge a lot faster from an external battery. Now the max charging speed will be determined by your PowerStations max solar input. In many cases, 600, 800, and even more wattage is doable by charging through your solar input. Doing it like this also leaves your 12v input free so you could still use it to add an additional 120wats of charging on top of what it taking through the solar input.

look up what the voltage of the official expansion battery for your particular unit is, and mirror that. save yourself headache of overheating or other issues you can face when having to step up too far.

e.g. if the official expansion battery is a 36v system, buy an aftermarket 36v battery

$90 for me after JJY18P right now. Annoyingly they are charging state sales tax which should not apply for a solar install so have to hold on and claim a refund at tax time.

Which Pecron are you getting? Not all of them take a 12v input. I have a f3000lfp and it needs at least 25v on the solar input, or 51.2v for the expansion port.

I was thinking of getting the one you purchased. I keep going back to the Anker C2000 Gen 2 though. Waiting for a deal to drop and then device but it's either of those due to the TT-30 plug

If it helps your decision the pecron was $550 shipped after cashback from aliexpress. Its even cheaper right now and would be closer to $430 with coupons and cashback. It powered my 12k btu portable ac for over 4 hours. I also ran an electric pressure washer and portable fridge for an hour with 30% usage. The only think I didn't like about this battery is the lack of handles. I wrapped an old engine belt. Problem solved!
