I get that you're an evangelist for powder, but it just didn't work to our liking for us.
washing in cold water is makes no sense!!

Also "washing in cold water is makes no sense!!" probably because you don't have silk, wool, lace, dark dyes, athletic synthetics, swimwear, and denim which requires cold water.
Also unless you only have cold water supply, many modern washers provide about 60F of cold water using Automatic Temperature Control.

" Use powder laundry detergent in water that is at least 60 degrees Fahrenheit to ensure it dissolves. Most cold water wash cycles already use this temperature, but if the water in your area is especially cold during the winter, dissolve the powder in hot water before adding it."
So technically, there shouldn't be any issue with using any temp water for the most part, but we did.
But as another tidbit, apparently, according to Tide:
"If you have greasy stains to take care of, then you want to go with a liquid detergent. You can use liquid detergent to directly pre-treat tough and greasy stains like makeup or oil. Powdered detergent is better for stains like dirt or clay."
I think maybe more people have the makeup or oil stains, so based on this (which could be biased) liquid is better...

Also you replied assuming that I used cold water, which I didn't say. Of course "common sense" would tell me to try other things including just dissolving it (hot water).
