The other problem with the 5070 Ti is that it's from PNY when sending that much on a card it's better to get a higher end model like this OC version from a better company like gigabyte. I wouldn't expect that PNY to last for many years, and with the way things are looking it may be the last affordable gpu's for a long time if not forever. We all know these greedy corporations are trying to make us own nothing and become their slaves to subscription for everything especially gaming.
PNY is fine. The card ain't different. Just the shroud. Y'all know that right?

what card is this comparable to?
Geforce 5070 RTX or Radeon 7900 XT or Radeon 7900GRE OC (each one is plus or minus 1% to 10% difference on "AVERAGE" depending on benchmark ran) with some benchmarks winning while some losing in certain benchmarks, so in other words they are all pretty closely competitive to each other.

This is not accurate in raw performance it's at least 15, but with other features like DLSS the gap is much closer

I have a RTX 3090 and play RTX games like quake, half life, etc.. thoughts? I'm told I'd lose the ability to play those.

I used to do ML and even 24GB wasn't enough but now I just casually game. Hogwarts is the only game my 3090 sucks ass with.

both NVIDIA and AMD now tune their cards to much of their maximum output that OC models are worthless price hikesthe manufacturer doesn't matter in terms of quality but in terms of warranty... ASUS was considered top quality but their warranty was dogwater
This is not true at all, if you but a 6,000 dollar card and it's a pos, and breaks right after the warranty then I think you wouldn't be very happy. When spending more than a few hundred on a gpu I'm sure most people would rather have it last for more than 5 years. Some people save their old cards and use them as backups or second pc's after an upgrade or use them for resale to recover some of the cost from an upgrade. Having a higher end model which will have better components even if they are just heat sinks that only sometimes look better than cheap models will get them more money. It's always better to get a high quality card that will last longer by staying cooler extending the life of the gpu.

I went to 3 local BestBuys and all of them were sold out of the PNY 5070 TI. Rumor has it if they have the price tag for the PNY 5070 TI still posted for $699, you "should" be able to get the in store clerk to order it online for delivery at that price. Some people have reported asking clerks for the price before checking stock and going from there. Others yet reported their price being $799. EXTREME YMMV.
I'm seeing $999 for that card right now.

hold the lime still ?
Many people have been holding the line for more than a year now. I paid $100 over msrp for this. If someone buy this today, they save $150 compared to me. But I have been enjoying gaming for over a year now and only upgrade every 4-5 years. Spreading $150 over 4-5 years is nothing. Most of us are making $30-50k a year and spend over $100 on stupid drinks over a night out.
Ask yourself if an additional saving of $70-120 is worth months waiting. Just buy it and enjoy if you need it. If you have an older card and see no hiccup maintaining your games at 60+ then don't buy. Simple.

A 9070 XT can run local LLM models pretty easily and actually has better inference performance (the thing you actually care about) than a comparably priced card from NVIDIA.

Watch out for 3x 8 pins needed to power it. Pain in the ass for sure. Microcenter is a 2 hour trip each way for me to return, so I've been making a pigtail connector work. I think I'm going to return it for a power color model since that has 2 8 pins, and my 1200w psu only came with 2. Only option is to swap PSU's, but even there I run into issues with the fan controller and other things on my case. Wish microcenter pointed it out before I left with it, when I went in originally going for the power color as it was lol.
