Although not a "deal," Philips Hue has recently increased the price of the Bridge Pro from $98.99 when it first came out, to $139.99. This is reflected on its own website. If you're in the market for a Bridge Pro, I strongly suggest you buy it at third party merchants like Amazon and Home Depot soon before their prices also increase.

This is regular price and not a deal. These were $70 recently.

Read the actual deal post about the price increase from Philips Hue. Also, they were recently about $80, not $70. Feel free to wait for a deal on the $98.99 price again if you want but I just wanted to give everyone fair warning about the increase to $139.99

Link to an announcement. Every retailer has these at $99.

The direct Hue store has always had a higher price.

See the above post. And just FYI, the Hue store was $98.99 last time I checked a few days ago. It looks like the price increase happened yesterday. Again, feel free to wait on a deal on the original $98.99 price but I just wanted to give others fair warning that prices at other retailers will probably increase eventually. It looks like the Apple.com website already reflects the new higher price.

A 40% price hike for a gadget that only works with hue lights? They can shove it.

The Philips Hue Bridge Pro can connect up to 150 lights and 50 accessories, while the original Hue Bridge supports only 50 lights and 12 accessories. The Bridge Pro also adds a "MotionAware" function that allows lights to act as motion sensors. How else would they upsell you new hardware for even more money?!

They're all equally obsolete.

The Bridge is a $100 piece of legacy hardware kept alive by a company protecting its ecosystem, not its customers.

Every feature it offers exists natively in Matter/Thread today — local control, fast response, multi-platform support — no middleman required, and faster response times.

Newer Hue bulbs with the Matter logo already work this way without the bridge. Philips knows the Bridge is obsolete; that's exactly why they've been slow-walking native Matter support.

This is expensive E-waste.

I've noticed the increased! Significant increase! Dump marketing and how the product priced initially. Especially for technology. Same make and model that went up in prices significantly after maybe 6 months or so. Most consumers are not willing to buy for the same technology product/make/model for about 40% more (unless it is a rare and short in supply and high demand just release models (such as new models of Playstation, iPhone....) Price should go down versus time! Not up! Especially with latest fast pace technology. Even factor in Inflation! Unless it's a brand new model with improve technology compare to the previous version and not the same version/model!

Obsolete was the wrong word. You meant not necessary if you're willing to out the time in to have a partially functional hue system, and if you want to replace your entire lighting system with brand new matter functional bulbs. At that point I believe you can set it up with home assistant maybe, though will lose the function of scenes and stuff that you can do through the hue app.

You need the hub to work through the Hue app and similar stuff, Im pretty sure.
