Community Reviews

This Kobalt 4 volt cordless screwdriver is a compact, handy tool for medium jobs and tight spaces like laptop work. It is praised for working well in everyday use, and the 280 max RPM with 13.5 inch pounds of torque gives it enough punch for light fastening. The pivoting shape and 5 clutch settings add flexibility, including a pistol grip option. The main caveat is limited torque, so it is not suited to drilling or heavier fastening, and the charger inclusion is unclear.

Common Questions (5)

  • The Greenworks 8V has more torque and a multi-position design, but it is much larger and closer to a drill in size. The Kobalt is the more compact option, while the Greenworks trades size for power and flexibility.

  • It's a low-power cordless screwdriver, not a drill, so it may need pre-drilling and won't have drill-like torque. It's better suited to screwdriving and light-to-medium jobs than drilling tasks.

  • It's listed at 280 max RPM and 13.5 in-lbs of torque. That is lower torque than a Skil Twist cited at 22 in-lbs, but it still fits light screwdriving and medium jobs.

  • Yes, it has 5 clutch settings plus a drill mode, which gives it torque control for different fastening tasks. That makes it more useful than a fixed-output screwdriver for small assembly and repair work.

  • The listing does not clearly show a charger, and the included "charger" may actually just be the USB cable. It's worth verifying before buying if you need a wall charger in the box.

I was going to buy this last night but ended up buying the greenworks 8v screwdriver for $30. More torque and multi position unit but it is bigger as the tradeoff.

I'm not seeing any indication a charger is included. I think the info on the product page is wrong, unless by charger they mean the USB cable.

The Greenworks is the size of a drill. Night and day difference.

Not worth buying an electric screwdriver that doesn't have torque control.

No it's not. It's not even close to the size of a compact drill driver. Plus it can change shapes, either the same shape as the kobalt or in a pistol grip. It has 5 clutch settings plus drill mode

for what purpose? these are not drills. dont expect to go far without pre-drilling. these do not tighten screws with drill-like power. i use a Skil pivoting version of this for my pc repair side gig. it's variable speed. i tried adding a hex chuck with a drill bit, and it did not have enough torque to drill.

FWIW: 280 max rpm, 13.5 in-lbs vs Skil Twist 240 max rpm, 22 in-lbs

Nah! nothing less than 8V, I'll pass. Oh wait! this is a screwdriver, think this will be great. I have the Skill with rotating ring to go clockwise or reverse, works great.

Nice piece, I just grabbed one and it is perfect for medium jobs. I already have one with more torque, and one for little jobs like getting into a laptop.
