These are some of the reviews on Amazon for a 2TB model.

"SSD did not last a week playing a game and computer froze. Had to remove the SSD before the computer would reboot...",

"I first started losing the drive randomly then the computer started crashing, now the PC wont boot with it in the M.2 slot...",

"Bought this for the PS5. Lasted barely a month and now it's dead. Turns PS5 and tells me to remove SSD. I remove it and PS5 reboots...".

I bought the Fanxiang S770 4TB drive back in early 2023 and it has been fine. I was using it as my windows boot drive until upgraded to a 4tb Lexar NM1090 pro gen 5 drive. Just moved the Fanxiang to be a game drive now. I paid $175 for the S770 though. Crystal Disk shows 99% life still on it for me. Would buy another if the price went back down for sure.

Participation bias. A lot of people only leave reviews when something noteworthy happens.. usually because they had an exceptionally good or exceptionally bad experience. Personally, 99.99% of the time, if I receive a product or service that simply meets my expectations (without exceeding them), I'm probably not going to take the time to leave a review.

Well fanxiang are known for bad quality for the components and this specific ssd has a ig5236 swap yaaaay, (fyi that specific controller has a high failure rate and can just kill itself whenever it feels like it)

I have 2 1 TB versions in a truenas system that have been good with no issues for 2 months. Sure they were around 80 each and not 330 but just posted real world use.

If you live near a microcenter, they have the 4TB WD SN5100 for $350.

IMO much more trustworthy than random stuff fro aliexpress.

Wrooooong, the s880 has a swap to ig5236 which is a suicidal controller that can off itself at random, the sn5100 is WAAAAY better.

I don't know. As I said I bought the S770 with the same IG5236 controller over 2 years ago and its been in moderate to heavy use in my machine just fine. I had it for my OS drive for more than a year until I swapped.

Screen shot of my ssd orders from amazon at least showing where i bought it so you know I have real world experience with it.

Guessing there are versions with firmwares that are problematic though. That is based on my limited research so far.

I have an older, S501Q 512GB in my PC without any issues. It is a few years old now. Take it for what it's worth.
